Monitors and other 1946 issues
I loaded up 1946 and I run my 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor at 1440x900x 75MHz resolution. However 1946 highest resolution is much lower in the game menu. Now I get a 'stretched' image when I run the game. Any way around this to get it running at 1440x900? I tried the windowed screen but it shrinks and only runs at 1024x768. Another thing, why is the water looks so dark? And no wave effects and my card handles the shaders?

Try picking a resolution from Il2setup.exe.
Make sure you're running Open GL
set water = 3 or 4 in conf.ini for Nvidia , 1 or 2 for ATI

Hey, Sneaks the resolution thing not working. Let me explain. I bought a USB 2.0 with the rig and took out my old hard drive and ran it on my new rig. 1946 was on the old drive and I had it on 1280x960x32. I then installed a fresh copy on my new hard drive but it still has 1280x960x32 as the highest resolution. Even il2 set up had that as the highest. What gives?
Sorry,Heloego. Still don't have internet here yet.![Crying or Very sad :cry:](./images/smilies/cry.gif)

Ah, you´re posting these post through poastal service then I guess
![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Have you tried to change the resolution in the conf.ini?
Don´t forget to tur the "SaveAspect" setting to 1
Here is an example:
width=1024
height=768
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=1
Use3Renders=0

Ok, I did some snooping around and found this item at SimHQ. Apparently 1946 does not support widescreens.
You have to make some changes in the con.ini file as Airway mentioned.
[window]
width=1920
height=1200
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

In the conf.ini you should give it a try to change the number behind the water= in the OpenGL section between 1 and 4
edit: change ist still written with an "a", not "e"![Rolling Eyes :roll:](./images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

The missing water could be due to...
...Global Warmimg.
Temps went up, ice melted, water ran over the ground, soaked in and disappeared.
Maybe.

And then the slimy creatures crawled and walked on the blue and now dry land and got killed off by big arsed meteor, then man came along, invented Wal-Mart and McDonald's and things have gone to Hell all over again.........:FI:Heloego wrote:...Global Warmimg.

OH and BTW, Wal-Mart can sell that cheaply, made, lead encrusted shyte 24 hours a day and they can damn sure refund your money on the shyte when it don't work 24 hours a days. EVEN when the service desk has closed for the night.

It's absolutely amazing what a sawed off, old Texican with a bad attitude can accomplish without resorting to gunfire.

Hmmm.. let me see if I get this straight. From what I know Texi is short for Texan, right? And 'can' is often referred to as the loo or toilet, right? Then a Texican is a Texan taking a dump?
Anyhoo, got 1946 and the screen resolution problem sorted out. Thanks Sneaks and Airway.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/smile.gif)

Glad to hear it's working.
FYI the highest res my Il2 setup shows is:- 2048x1536 32bit (not that my CRT monitor will run anything over 1024x768).
I did read someplace that "wide screen" in il2 really only crops the top and bottom of the picture.
