Earthquake!

Post by AltarBoy » Fri Sep 29, 2006 8:46 pm

Man, we just had a bad one here this morning at around 9.06am. Measured 6.0 on the Richter Scale. I was home on a day off when the whole house shook like mad. This was one of the worst in 10 years. It sounded like a freight train and must've lasted about a minute or less. We felt an aftershock an hour ago and that was just as scary.

Yeah, my house is constructed out of prefabricated concrete. Glad to be alive. We live in seismic belt in the Eastern Caribbean. Some folks got injured and one guy fell off a ladder and died. :cry:

...

now, is that 6.0 in American Richters

or in weeny li'l T/T Richters?

~~~
New Orleans sits on hundreds of feet of mud, muck and left over gumbo. Even if we had a twenty-nine point eleventy-five, no one would feel it.
Nope it's in Yankee Richters. Now, the news said it was really 5.8. Big deal it was still a frightning tremor. The aftershock was just as bad- 5.2.
New Orleans mud? Hmmmmm.....
