Agree, for me Rome: Total War has been the best game I have ever played. IL-2 comes in at a close 2nd. For fun probably Eidos' Praetorians (online) has been the best.
That expansion looks great. Was hoping for a September release date.
And the Netherlands is always a common military point to invade. Apparently most of their citizens are too tired to fight due to late-night gaming, eh Joyce, Dutch, Dr. Ed . . .

TactS, this is why we play with them, to make them tired and to invade them, remember?
Silently, in the night, while they're sleeping, I could sneak in and take James with me to Poland.....

Mac(I wouldn't do that)ca

Close but . . .
Well Macca it is TacticalMatt's birthday today (he's 11!), and I took him out early on Saturday to see what he wanted for his gift. No surprise we ended up looking at video games
.
The lad was considering several possible titles, including Battlefield 2, Warcraft III Battle Chest and Imperial Glory. After careful consideration, no "glory" as he (and me
) are once again fighting bad guys/things in the world of Warcraft.
Of course this series was my first real RTS experience (Warcraft I), and while I prefer more realistic units (what's this magic nonsense anyway?), the peons look strangely familiar to me. I like the mix of RTS/RPG, though probably enjoyed WCII a bit more. Nonetheless, nice graphics and story. But why doesn't AA/AF seem to work for this 2002 Game of the Year title?
Anyway, the Battlechest was only @$40 Canadian, which included the expansion pack (Frozen Throne) and two Bradley strategy books (well, for what they're worth - Bradley's books generally suck).
So, it looks like no Imperial Glory. In hindsight I wished I had picked it up instead of Silent Hunter III, which while excellent for its genre I seldom play.
Next will probably be the expansion for Rome this fall. I will keep an eye on Rowan's BOB II however. I hope it's not that good, or I will be tempted to pick up that Vector Expansion thingy too.
Then there's COD 2, and I always pickup a hockey title for the XBox in the fall too.

Hey Tac,
I think you said you have the new "World of Warcraft". Do you know if there is enough off-line game there to keep you busy for a while or is it mostly an online-here's-some-more-of-my-money kinna thing?

Good point. Language can be tricky - when I said "world of Warcraft" I meant back into the series of Warcraft, which hopefully doesn't confuse anyone with the newest game from Blizzard called "World of Warcraft." Now that's not confusing I hope.
As for their online RPG (World of Warcraft), Matthew asked about it but when I realized there is an ongoing service fee to play online it was returned promptly to the shelf.
As for Warcraft III+Frozen Throne Expansion, they are offline campaigns with free online skirmish mode at Battle.net. I stress the word "free".
Not into paying for a game, only to pay again and again to play it.
Besides, he plays Runescape for free online. That should keep him happy. If not, he can always go shoot some :FI: mates in the Platoon!
