OK, not to crash this thread but where has Genosse gone? He said he had it too.
I heard the online was a bit - what? - weak/not ideal for short sessions or something like that?
BTW - Seriously looking at picking this up for offline purposes. Waiting until maybe patch 1.3. Apparently there's a little nVIDIA bug in it using binoculars (not that I'm trolling in SHIII forums)
.
Besides, if my fellow Roman mate (Macca) is picking it up maybe we need to duel again!
But so many other games coming. Will I have time? Oh the insanity of it all!

Maccus Ubootus wuold be very pleased to duel with you, noble TacticuS! just have to wait for my little U-boot delivered:) you kicked my little Roman butt ,now I hope to sink your trireme:) However, I'm not sure if there is a duel possibility in SH3, rather coop missions against the evil Allied ships.

Finbar what are you doing to me?!
That was my last excuse - now there's nothing stopping me from this new addiction.
I asked this over at UBI but no responses. Some crazy person was talking about enjoying a couple of encounters using time compression in his 6 HOUR gaming session. OK, so what fun things would a person with 1-2 hours 1-3 per week get to see in the game besides seagulls?

First of all, how many SHIII threads are floating around these parts? Can this be the "official" thread mates?
Anyway, how did you guys (:FI:Dutchman & :FI:Macca) make out playing online? Everything work ok? Was it fun? Are you guys building your own missions?
Started my first "official" campaign using Realism settings minus Weapons Officer targeting assistance. I am hoping that this will allow me to manually aim and compare my numbers with the Weapons Officer. Does anyone know that this will work in this manner? Hopefully tonight I will find out.
Holding off getting the mods that would assist me in manual targeting (just trying the manual's approaches) until the next patch comes out.
Finally starting to understand the importance of marking up the navigation maps with regards to tracking/interception and preparing for attack.
Regards,
TactS!

Guten Morgen, Kaleun TactS!
We played a bit online, with Genosse and Dutch and young TacticalMatt. It is fun, cooperative wolfpacking and destroying enemy convoy or at least trying to do that. Works fine despite the fact that the loading time of the game is a bit too long.
I want to learn manual targeting and TDC use so that I could play on 100 percent realism minus exeternal views for screenshots.Or with external views off ,they are too tempting.
I will start my firs serious campaign when I'm back from Warsaw, though I can't spend much time for any games now due to upcoming exam session in June.So my games are now books, books, books, coffe, books and so on.
I downloaded 3 ( I think 3) music packs for my personal U-Boot Gramohone, really, this suits the game very much....long long way to Tippanery....da da,dadada dam....
The game ROCKS!
I also have to use the mods you mentioned to do manual targeting - wazoos manual is realy great.
Ok, Macca goes back to his books.....
When Kaleun Macca is learning , the command of the U-Boot is in the hands of my First Office, Heinz.

Sounds great except for that loading time. How long does it exactly take? What settings were you guys using?
With regards to external views, here's another example where developers are not really thinking. Why not allow them except when within range of other vessels? I miss just seeing the bubbles coming up as I dive. And yet I want to restrict my view when engaging/under attack. Sounds like COOPs in IL-2 all over again, eh?
Haven't downloaded any music yet but probably will. Hoping the developer puts some more map tools in the game itself that will allow for more effective targeting (like in these mods).
Also hoping to rent "Das Boot" this weekend. Shamefully I must admit never having seen it.
Can I still play SHIII until then? I did see that more modern movie "U-something or other" which I thought was decent enough.
