A belated hello from Nottingham, UK

Post by Greeny » Wed Jun 06, 2007 11:20 pm

Hi guys

Following the advice of Mssrs Nightcat and Sneaky,I have finally "bit the bullet" (after biting rather a lot on Hyperlobby!) and decided to try to improve my IL2 skills in an on-line environment.

I have been dabbling at IL2 for about 4 years now, but never seriously, as I was previously a Football Manager and then Battlefield 2 addict!

About 18 months ago I saw the light and realised that the only game that I kept retunrning to over and over was IL2 FB and Pacific Fighters.

As such, I thought that I should meet some guys who really played and signed up with Joint Ops. I loved doing their basic flight school, but am still a total novice when it comes to combat awareness and tactics.

I am totally commited to this game and it is now all I play........I feel even more commited habving invested in an X52 and a Track IR, but I need help in getting real enjoyment from the game.

I really hope that I can learn this from you guys.

I am not a hopeless addict anymore.......I try top keep my gaming down to 2 or 3 times a week and limit myself to a couple of hours.........I have a life outside IL2.

Having said that I am keen to play an active part in this arena and make whatever contribution I can.

I am looking forward to learning from you guys, and in time putting something back.........

I hope to see some of you guys on TS in due course........ :p

Welcome Greeny! The FI are great bunch, we like to fly but don't take things TOO seriously. I myself only manage few hours a week at most and they're still putting up with me- I look forward to flying with you online. Did you check out the tread on becoming a member yet?

Welcome to the show, Greeny!

I think you´ve done the right thing spending your precious flight time with us. Since we all have become some kind of busy we don´t fly as much as we once did ... ... but maybe this will change with upcoming SOW: BOB and Knights Of The Skies. :?

Just hang around on our boards and see with what kind of peep you´re going to fly with. Join Tactical´s Historic Encounters session on Saturday mornings (0200 am BST) or the Sunday COOP Sessions (1930 BST). You might find some FIs on Hyperlobby mid-weeks as well ...

Enjoy your time here and cya soon in the virtual blue (... and maybe in Duxford this year?)!

LOL

Thanks for the welcome chaps.

Having passed the intiative test, unfortunately I have been unable to fly this weekend.......a combination of a long business trip and bloody kids!!!......, will be with you asap.

You guys have some GREAT forums - a real mine of information. To be fair there is a fair bit of nonsense as well - but mainly entertaining nonsense!!!

See you soon.

Hi Guys

Nice to finally fly with you guys tonight. You were very welcoming. Special thanks to Falcon for showing me the ropes, but also to Gadje (What a great Scots name!) and Skipper(!?) for helping me out. Sorry, but I am terrible with names and may not have got that right......If it wan't Skipper, then let me know and I will eat some humble pie!

I feel a little less threatened now. Even though I had my ass well and truly pounded on-line!! (If you excuse the teminology!)

Sorry it had to be short - next time I will get on-line a bit earlier.

Look forward to doing it all again soon!

Regards
