TWO GEFORCE 8800GTX's?!?!
Dude!!
The ol' Full Metal Ferret will be eclipsed once again!
It all looks great . I'm not up on the mother board and CD drive market.
Just some questions, no way a criticism ...
The GTS's are just a wee bit slower and a LOT cheaper. Have you checked those?
A 7200 rpm HD? Have you looked into the Raptor 10000 rpm jobbies?
Four gig of ram? Is that necessary already????
Make sure the case has plenty of room and big fans. The bigger the quieter. (105mm+???).
And you WILL get good surge protection, right? None of those $7 Walmart cheapy strips.
Alien, Voodoo and Dell are great, but that name plate is an expensive add-on.
Good luck wiff the financing. Second mortgages are so much fun!
Good luck wiff the wiff. Second marriages can be fun too.

Man Scott this is the sort of rig I dream about. Dreams don't cost me anything.
If you are getting a gaming keyboard and mouse grab the Logitech G15 (keyboard) and Logitech G7 (mouse) - or their latest replacements. My only wish with the G7 was that it was wireless (maybe it is now?). Also, when I do eventually buy a new rig I am looking forward to wireless speakers; tired of all these tangled wires.
Probably the 4 GB Ram thingy is overkill but that's what I would also purchase. Sick of having to minimize stuff to play games using 1 GB. Just one of those 8800 cards would be awesome; two just makes you look like you're showing off.
Looks fantastic mate! About time someone challenged that Full Metal Ferret monster rig.

Yeah,
those GTS's are looking inviting. I might rethink on that.
My general thoughts on this machine are that with my current box it was relatively low spec'd in IL2 terms when new and has had two major upgrades in four years. Overall it hasn't been a cheap machine and has had its fair share of problems. With this one I am trying to get it right from the begining and hopefully avoid the need for serious mid life refits
So far as cost is concerned I have run through it and by the time I put together the upgrades and time spent on my last machine it still works out more expensive than this monster- also I was shocked to learn how little you can get for a second hand Wife.

Well,
Mrs S. didnt say 'Wow', it sounded more like 'ooowwwwwwwwhaaagrrrrrr'.
Fortunately I have sprung for a whopper summer holiday this year on 'er-indoors' behest (after 16 years a week in Bridlington became unsustainable) so I have some good ammunition for a change.
I have decided to go with an outfit called PCSpecialist. They sound like they know what they are up to and hopefully they will consider taking a small child in part exchange.
Wish me luck boys, she's tricky.
