Here's something that doesn't sound right to me, 9nm tourque for the clutch cover? That's a little on the weak side isn't it?
That sounds "finger tight" to me. I'd double check, and would want to use a bit of Loctite if that's right.

Lost another biker buddy...

Wally Nicholl aged 57, in Perth Australia. A woman pulled out in front of his Ural solo bike. He had almost 550,000 Kms on that bike. A finer gentleman and mechanic you couldn't find.

A German by birth, ex-paratrooper and merchant mariner living the good life in Western Australia.

You will be missed, brother!

Menace,

IAW the Harley service manual for Dyna's, torque cllutch cover (primary cover) to 9.5 - 12.2 Nm (84 - 108 In-lb) Ensure you're using a new seal.

Our local Harley dealer service department is very good, however, they're also very expensive. They charge approximately 330 USD for the 10K PM. Out of all the required tasks, I'm not comfortable with one, 'steering bearing adjustment and lubrication" - 30 USD at dealer. Even with buying the service manual (68 USD) and the extra tools (including a motorcycle lift) and oil, its still cheaper to do it yourself. It's not 'rocket science''........Well I hope it's not 'rocket science', I'll let you know in two weeks...

Thanks, Igor, now I won't panic. Although I did tourque them down to about 11-12. And yes, it was a new gasket.
