I just read that story for the first time, wow! It brought tears to me eyes, don’t know if it’s just old age creeping up on me or maybe after all these years I’m getting in touch with me famine side………NOW Falcon you didn’t hear that!

Sad and beautifully written tribute.
My great uncle is listed as "MISSING IN ACTION, PRESUMED Dead". His B-17 never came back from a mission in the Pacific. My great Aunt Eleanor, RIP, never re-married.
Thanks for sharing that story.

This reminds me of that B-17 that crashed in the Northern Range hills here during the war. It was never found until a few years ago. The Americans had a base here in Wallerfield and the plane went MIA. When they found it they retrieved whatever reamins of the crew and the relatives were informed. The plane was in pretty bad shape and you know how that looks in the tropics. But the story is pretty profound and hits the spot. Good read.
