IL2 free update? motherlode of new planes?

Post by Beowolff » Tue Jan 31, 2006 5:14 am

you chaps see the news of the supposed NEW IL2/FB/Aces/PF update? flyable MC200s, (finally...MC202s) MC205s, flyable JU88, flyable honkin' Tempest, flyable HONKIN' mosquito....flyable Do-335A, flyable Spit IX, flyable 109K-4 (why???) several AI also several new ground objects and some fixes....

wow, a motherlode of new flyables! boggles the noggin, even.

acutely missing, the finished Fokker, the finished Curtiss Demon... a handful of other known finished planes... ??? what's up with that? the Demon was way finished many moons ago and promised way a long time ago in previous patches... just dunno about that.

this is a huge, honkin' patch and will hopefully breathe new life into the game.

my faves...the 200s/202s/205s and the mosquito and tempest, of course.

Beo, ole chap!

I think the rest of the 3rd party planes will follow with the platinum DVD or any other payable add-on. I´m pretty sure that these guys know how to make money even with an "old" game like PF (merged) ...

I hope they amended/corrected the flight and the gun model tho(!)

Let´s wait and see ...

Yay, Germany fields yet another two super planes that saw limited or no combat! At least we finally get the Ju 88. The Do 17 is still unavailable for comment however.
The Mossie is the earlest and the worst performer of the lot BTW (of mossies, MK VI). Lets hope the Tempest is the FW190 killer it was supposed to be, faster on the deck and brutal armament.

To tell you the truth, I'm more concerned about flight model tweaking. Is the Mustang going to stop being the Stallstang? Will the Ta 152H's wings finally rip off at high speeds at low altitude? Hope they don't mess around with the german planes too much, they are about perfect in my opinion. Unfortunately the allied planes tend to need some tweaking as we all know. Personally I attribute the excellent handling characteristics of the German planes to the LACK of flight data compared to our allied favorites. But that's an old rant.

Useless trivia: The Corsair and the P-47 had a nasty reputation as "Pilot Killers" Due to tourqe from the props at near stall speeds in turns. The prop would stop and the plane would spin! That's power!
