Well, back home Sunday night,
tons of work done and left to do.
Must have gotten a lightning strike because dishwasher, a/c, some fans and ...
gasp!
my puter blown!
My power source is at least burned out and I'll find out about my mother board, etc when I can get to Baton Rouge (the nearest opened comp store) and buy a new power supply.
I'm using Eileen's business portable. Geez, what a fight THAT was, but my reasoning of, "what's more important, work, food, and a paycheck or the mates?" was flawless, plus I'm bigger than she is ... and she's really a soft touch if you give her 'puppy dog eyes' and grovel a lot.
Eileen again says, "hi!" to everyone and wants all to know that the wishes you sent of her 39th <choke cough choke> birthday were well appreciated.
It turns out that Eileen was lying to me about how well she was eating. One night she had frozen lettice and tea. Another night she had tomato juice (the remnants of the previous day's Spaggettios in a can) and a cookie for dinner. She met Sean Penn on her b-day, she said she'd rather have gotten a steak.
Ground lines are still not up and cell phone service is still a wee bit spotty. All the money I have saved for a new puter will be sucked up in the insurance deductable, but I didn't really want one anyway <double choke>.
More and more folks are heading back into the city. Large areas are being reopened so homes can be reached. Businesses are reopening. The lads who replaced my a/c compressor are working out of an old garage. Their offices are still under eight feet of water.
Helecopters fly over constantly. My home is ~17 mi. out from and directly under the ILS to RW 10 at Louis Armstrong airport. Lots of excitement.
I've been getting some E-mails about skinning and such. While my puter is down and my day is so full I won't be able to answer many questions very well. I suggest you go to UBI and ask there.
They are a silly lot, but very helpful.
The animals are all alive but some still very spooked.
More work to do, will write later.
