Post by Skipper » Mon Aug 08, 2005 11:17 pm

Well I' off to Cork for a week with my parents and sister and was wondering what you mates would recommend doing there?

Any ideas and little tips would be appreciated!:D

Bring a laptop, arrange some broadband, hook up and play online. What else?

I had a great time getting drunk in Cork. Found the traffic a bit confusing afterwords though. Seems some one moved the steering wheel to the right side of the car we rented. SO, we decided to sleep it off at a B&B.

The next morning the mysterious mobile steering wheel was STILL on the right side of that damned car. FFS!!

We showed it a thing or two. We drove the damn thing anyway!! As for the poor folks that were TOTALLY confused and driving on the left?  We showed them too!! We followed their lead. ;)

The Oak (or is it the Big Tree?) on Oliver Plunkett Street.

And there's another one just around the corner from it on the pedestrianized sidestreet that leads back to Patrick Street (the main drag). They make GREAT sandwiches there and have great Guinness.... You parents will love it! It's real 'olde worlde' stuff!

I used to live in Cork, but then I discovered Dublin :D

Have fun, boy! (as they say in Cork - 'boy' is added to everything.... it's a term of affection) Corkmen do NOT travel well in the US Southern States

Spent a weekend in that fine city with some mates on a three day piss up ..dont remeber much past the flight there. It doesnt sound as if thats what your going for though. With that in mind I also spent a week with the missus in Kinsale just around the coast very pretty ,but it was a bit too pretty, but the missus loved it.
Kerry is a nice part of the world I think its called "the kingdom"so get out and see it if you have the time,we ate at some smashing wee pubs on the coast, with great crack, and a genuine warmth in the welcome.
Mmm now with some hols coming up and cheap flights maybe it's time to go back..
