"10 Rifle Cartridges"
"Manufactured in March 1888 in Main Laboratory at Ingolstadt"
" Case: N/K"
Last line possibly "Government Issue: M71.84. H.L."
No way for me to be certain of what appear to be designator numbers/Letters. Possibly lot #'s or size and power.
Some of it is in old German, so it was necessary to interpolate, but I think I'm close.
...and wear your feckin' mask!!!!!

Good job for sure ... especially the text in old German letters!
The last line contains this:
Percussion cap: M71.84. H.L.
Found following information about this:
M71/84 Mauser
HL, 0.43 Mauser Dominion cases, 400gr cast, 77 gr FFG BP

3.28

Willie, keep this ammo box! Full or empty - it´s a rarity!!!

Willie,
I can't download the pics, but from the responces i believe you have 11.15x60R Mauser ammo for the M71 , M71/84 Mauser. Loose ammo is priced better than 6 USD each; couldn't guess what an intact original box would be. Its a great find. Its for probable the first Mauser bolt action rifle, loaded with black powder.

As usual Igor, you are dead on.
Maybe this pic will show for you.
I found a couple of old original boxes of 43 Mauser blanks for 50 and 65 bucks each.
Sad part is that I had 10 or fifteen boxes like this one and sold 'em for 10 bucks a piece about 10 years ago..
Maybe you can view the pics by going here too.

Geezzz, the leads not corroded, the paper around the bullet looks new, the box is in very good condition., brass looks new. How does something over a hundred years old look that good? Very interesting piece of history you got there.
