Go liquid cooling; quieter, cooler, same money, usually smaller. Go name brand, check reviews. Coot-It or Corsair are good. Older units HAVE leaked ... like mine ... double check reviews. I have found no recent problems with new coolers.

I'm not uberly following what you're doing, but if you're having a crash starting the game in any situation, are you using either "Effects hi" or "Effects lo"? Pick one and attempt a restart.

Unless you want more networking options/abilities, an XP mode, more theft and data loss security and need more diagnostic abilities, stick with the Homey. It's beaucoup cheaper.
