Hi
My name is Thomas Guiry from Ireland Co.Tipperary .I was a bit of a party animal in my younger years used to DJ.
Always had soft spot for computers first came across sims at the age of about 11, Falcon the first 1!! on amiga 500,
i was hooked on sims like wings, battle of britain by lucas arts .apache gunship and 2000 list go's on.I love airplance's
simple as, more so the one's that can shoot .Would love too jion your squad and i am addicted to il2

Looking for some info guys and girls at da mo im upgrade'n
graphics card geforce gtx285 or ati 4890 Ive a 4850
seems a bit bug prone on il2 do any ye have any of dis
cards or no the ins out of them to point me in right
direction i no direct x11 are out soon but my money
will go the way of in 1 hand and out the other
PS. Falcon i was talking about the filght sim back in late 80's or early 90's
my call sign il use will be t4trouble

Yeah, I know.

The 4850 is a good card and excellent in xFire. AMD's weakness, recently anyway, has been drivers. Check that out first.

Now, as for other good cards:

GeForce GTX 260 Core 216SP
GTX 275
GTX 280
and the 285.

An upgrade to the 285 would be marginally worth it. The other cards are not enough of a jump.

The Radeon 4870, 4890 and the 4850X2 are the same. Not worth the money for the boost you get. The 4850X2 has some real driver issues, or it did about four months ago. Check that out too. The Radeon 4870X2, 4890X2 and the GeForce 295 are definite improvements, but very expensive.

So yeah, IF you can't get the old 4850 runnin' good and IF you don't wanna try X-Fire with a second 4850 and IF you don't mind throwing money around like it's Chiclets, then the 285 is a pretty good move up. Shop the brands carefully. Check warranties, extras, review sites.

EDIT!!!: I've just checked NewEgg and the price of the 4870X2 has dropped sig ... signifik ... a LOT! Man, this market moves quickly. The 4870X2 is every bit as good as the 285. I've heard of heat and noise issues though ... and the driver thing.

Since we´re all waiting for the release of the next official 4.09 patch I´d like to advise you that you need to have Teamspeak and Hyperlobby installed on your rig in order to fly with us. There´s some kind of flight schedule that we´ve been following for a couple of months (or years? or even a decade?):

- Wednesdays: COOP missions at 1930 BST
- Fridays: DF missions on Hyperlobby at 1930 BST
- Saturdays: COOP missions at 0200 BST
- Sundays: COOP missions 1930 BST

Usually it´s no problem to arrange some flight session midweeks for training purposes either ...

Ive yet to get head set but it will be bought disweek
my 4850 great card for price runs frycry2 and cod5
full settings no prob but on il2 many bugs tryed all
forums for fixs changed conf setting ccc settings
no joy the game sutters alot and the colors crash
i have to move mouse diff direction to stop it
the nail in the coffin for the card was installed latest
driver for it the game would not work took me two
days to fix it uninstalling reinstalling game and drivers
what pain that was i know 4890 vapour is a cool card
but il2 really runs better on nivida so i think il go
for gtx 285 or 295 mmh
but anyhow lookn forward to fly'n with ye
