Good folk,

Some of you have been asking if all is well in Swampland.

Well ... yes and no ...

Yes, the sun is shinning,

the birds are tweeting,

none of the kids have been arrested in the last week

and der wiffen und I are riding every weekend to exotic places and eating all sorts of strange food.

And no ... well kinna no ... the river is offering us some rather extreme drama this month.

This is a pic of the spillway near our house two days ago. The water from the Mississippi is coming a wee bit faster than it's s'pose to through the spillway on its way to Lake Pontchartrain and the water was starting to roll over the spillway bridge yesterday. I haven't seen it today, but I hear that one lane is blocked. Everyone says all is good, but it does make one wonder.

...

Good times!

1. Please notice that the Guard Rails are in the Median...
Motorists are not protected from driving off the Right edge of the road.

2.
I suppose it can kill you like everything else over there
That's true, Dec. In Loosianny you don't hunt the fauna...it hunts you . ;)

Oh well.

It needed a good flushing anyway.

It's 1800hrs and the world hasn't ended here. Clouded up and rained about 20 drops an hour or so ago.

I guess it's a good thing I didn't punch the boss yesterday before I left.

Jeez,

I leave you lot alone for a couple of weeks and Stu tries to flood a city and the rest of you have a go at ending the world. After nearly three weeks I can confirm that the food in the US is close enough to being a humanitarian crisis, I got into a stand up argument over not accepting a portion of fries- 'they come with your meal sir' 'but I don't want them madam' etc, etc.

Anyhoo I hope everyone is well and shall speak to whoever is around later.

I'm back home now Stuart,

I've nothing against fries, its just death by fries that wears me down.

They wanted you all sleek and fat and sassy for the end of the world.

Should have told them to take their "chips" and shove 'em.

They'd still be wondering what you had been smoking.

Well, the world didn't end after the flood and the plague of oil or whatever ...

so I will follow through with my threat to send some pics.

Here's a pic of moi on top of Queen Wilhemina.

Who knew she had such huge ... tracks of land ... in Arkansas.

Sorry guys, no stories of back-woods fiddle players or purdy mouths.

This was in July. Eileen and I just got back from North Carolina on the new bike.

Good stuff!
