Version 4.10

Post by :FI:Falcon » Fri Dec 24, 2010 6:01 pm

Dude-mates,

Well, it's great to get 4.10. The install was easy and everything seems to work fine. When I say "everything" I mean a quick mission worked and the computer didn't explode. Unfortunately, I have slipped into a more familiar state of mind for me after closing the game. I am confused. Where are a lot of a/c? Where are the jets? Do we need to install something else? Do we put UP or HSFX over this? Will there be a revised UP or HSFX to put over this? Where did the MiG's/Sabre's come from anyway? Does Sarah Palin really think she has a chance for the presidency in 2012?

Just a few mysteries to add to this already confusing season.

Any clarifications will be appreciated.

Now, who has my dribble cup?

Updated 1946 Vanilla 4.09 (I thought) with 4.10. Screen still shows 4.09. What is the correct sequence of updates for an out of the box 1946?

Iggy,

from the documentation in separate dl:

The current version 4.10m is not compatible with the previous versions of the flight simulator when playing over the network (Online). Both the server and client must have the appropriate versions in order to connect.

Attention: Version 4.10m is only for a merged version of the simulator of the proper version (FB+AEP+PF).

Add-On Installation Instructions (Please read carefully)

The Il-2 1946 add-on v.4.10m installs only over v.4.09m.

In order to install this add-on, run the file 410m.exe and follow the on-screen instructions.

Please note that this add-on is impossible to install over stand alone Pacific Fighters.

So (FB+AEP+PF) comes out to be 4.09m. That's what you need.

FB(4.06)+AE(4.07)+PF=4.08m.
DL the 4.09 patch to get 4.09m.
DL the 4.10 patch to get 4.10m.

By the time a 4.11 patch comes out the world will have ended anyway.

No wonder Stu is so confused. ;)

Ok, Let's see if I got this straight. 1946 is 4.08 out of the box.
DL 4.09
DL 4.10

I found my problem with V4.10 not updating my 1946. I have two folders...Ubisoft and Ubi soft. I pointed the upgrade to the correct folder...works fine.

One can run the UltraPack updater too and everything goes automatic. Wow.
Then you can chooce between Stock 4.09m, Stock 4.10m and 4.09m + Ultrapack ;)

But that was just one more post from a brainiac to confuse you all :p

So, but fun byside, let's grab up Stu's question. What will we use for future Online Sessions with the FI, the new Stock 4.10 or the Modded 4.09m version?

I don't think it will take too long for updated versions of both UP and HSFX come out for installation over 4.10m. Then you'll have all your jets back, Stu. The nice thing is that when that happens we'll all have a good, final, working version of the Zuti MDS to use without having to constantly enable/disable it in JSGME.
In the meantime you'll still have to fly one of the mod packs without 4.10m to get all of the extra maps and planes.

It seems like a 'half a loaf' proposition. You don't get alot of things to get some things. My first impression was not good

Is the loaf half empty, or half full? :)

At this point I, too am not that impressed.
So far I see some minor tweaks to the interface, but nothing special about the planeset or flight models. I noted that the Gemerman planes seem to have a bit more punch than usual, and the Hurri MkIIC now is normally aspirated, instead of fuel injected! :x
Makes for a shyte combination in any case.

To recap then,

its not that good, the cat is going to get kicked repeatedly as I try to install it and there is going to have to be a new HSFX update that will probably involve more cat kicking sometime in the near future.

Sounds good, where does one sign up ?
