Does Il-2 support widescreen?

Hi good people.
I've been getting back into flying Il-2 and I've hooked my computer up to a 32 inch. Is there any way to display the game in widescreen so that there are no black edges on the sides of the screen?

Hi LF, nice to see you back, go into your conf.ini file and near the top you will see "SaveAspect = 1" set that to "0" and your good to go.

Your instructions worked perfectly, but the picture turned out pretty bad so i changed it back to the original settings.
Either way, thanks for the help.
Are you and Rab still hanging around?

Yep, myself and Greg are still kicking about, not so much in il2, more Arma2 and RoF at the moment.

If you are using a modded version of Il2 ( who is'nt these days?) you can get a mod called "Native Widescreen" which will give you a widescreen image without distortion. I use it and it works. I think I found it at the SAS mod site.

Edit the conf.ini file in the root directory as follows:
[window]
width=1920
height=1200
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=0
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=1
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0
Set your height, width, color, and set the "SaveAspect" to 1. This last one ensures Hor+, according to some threads at the Ubi forums
