I'm trying really hard to NOT smoke and I'm standing on READY to kill something..

The wee axe looks like it would be really satisfying..

The bow looks awesome.

Great work Lars!

What do you need the yew wood for? Isn't that what the bow is made of? If not which wood is it?

Sorry, Vin. The archers of times past were no wuzze´s.....Take´s a bit to pull a 100#+ bow.....
The axe is a replika of one found in a grave in Hova some 100 km from here, so it´s a standard viking model...
The bow is made from Oak so it´s a pretty stiff Self-Bow.

Next is a new Ash-bow for the kid´s....

Was'nt it at the battle of Agincourt that the archers gave the French knights hell, them and a muddy field I think.

Nice job with the bow, lars. Any plans of going hunting with it?

Once more to the breach, my friends...Yep a English archer in those days had to be able to fire a minimum of 6 aimed arrows per minute(.50" shafts, 500 grain arrows) ranges up to 300 yards...
So 5000 archers letting go of 6 vollies per minute gives you 30,000 aimed arrows per minute...
It generaly took 2-3 vollies to breake a cavalry charge....Poor kniggets....Talk about getting SHAFTED...
Bow hunting is not legal here in Sweden, but denmark and Finland is an option...
But I´m not into killing.....

Naw. It was made in Germany.

All the knives I made were fixed blade. Out of about 50, I think I know where one is.

Beautiful work on the bow.

Who made the axe/hatchet? It looks VERY nice and delightfully evil.

Lars,

Nice bow! Takes a lot of skill and patients to build; a lot of skill and strength to use. Bows are used here in Alabama for hunting deer and pigs. Usually compound bows (much easier to use). There are hunting seasons for bow hunting (actually longer than regular hunting season). I don't know of any restrictions other than the required hunting license and you can't use stone tips. I knew a guy years ago that had a store where he made and sold American Indian bows, arrows, etc. Not real good for hunting (that's why Indians had to sneak up on their game...bad equipment, bad shoots..LOL). A hundred pound draw sounds about right...powerful weapon.

I started of with alot of googling and ended up with buying "the traditional bowyers bible" 1-4. Great books on how to build bow´s...
You don´t need much tool´s and wood is pretty much dirt sheap.(exotic wood´s not so sheap.)
A good hatchet, some files and rasps a cabinet-scraper and lots of elbow-grease ;) It sort of grows on you and I just cant stop
