Read in the paper that a Trinidadian-born soldier serving with the US was killed during a patrol in Iraq. The last time we had any casualties was in Vietnam. All this death is spreading around and I guess it was just a matter of time before it hit close to home.

Salute to all those that fell in battle and the loved ones they left behind.

... more than 3606 US, 159 UK and 128 homes of other nationalities so far.

... not that I'm counting.

What a flippin' mess.

It would be nice to see a politican admit they were wrong at LEAST once...

Problem is... if they pull out now what did those boys die for? GW Bush's inability to accept reality?

Soldiers die because people "politicians" want to spill some one elses blood for their own (not soldiers) beliefs.

Is it possible that we are ignorant of the facts?, or are we so comfortable that we choose to be ignorant.

Or could it be that the politics of yesteryear are now starting to bite us where it hurts.

I would agree that it’s easier for a politician to send some else off to war than to send himself off to die. I’m no politician lover, I’ve never meet one that I’ve totally agreed with, and probably never will. But we can’t blame it all on the politicians, hell here in the states people are dieing each and every day at the hands of their own people. (I know some people even blame that on the government) There is just too many coldhearted and heartless people out there; ones that are in politics and ones that are not evolved in it.
When our troops went into Iraq there was a part of me that said “YEAH!” but I knew that it was a no win situation, not in the way of where we win, now you guys do what we tell you.
My son in a few weeks will be in Iraq, am I happy about this no. In the words of Rodney “can’t we all just along”, I’ve had comments said to me, “You glad now that you voted for Bush”, “Are you happy now driving that gas guzzler,” “Well you got your wish warmonger” and a lot more of this SH*T.
Hell I would be content if we, the U.S.A. would pull all of our people back into American and put up a big wall around it and say the heck with the rest of you guys we’re going fishing take care of your own stuff, but it will never happen, we have too many friends out there that we have commented to.
Again I had a thought to get across but when I put it down in black and white it doesn’t come across the way I wanted it to. Anyway

I understand what you're saying Icefrog. Politics aside, I just hope the lives lost is not in vain. And I hope this war ends and you and others can have their loved ones back home.

I never really knew anyone first hand involved in the conflict in the Middle East but now theres Sapper in Afganistan and your son heading to Iraq. Best of luck to them both. I think some of my old school friends who joined up a couple of years ago are due to head out soon...weird to think of them out there...

been talking (PMs) to Sapper these last couple of months, found out he is a great guy and has helped me out a lot
and there has been others in this crazy squad too,,,,so thanks to them too
