New rig soon!

Post by AltarBoy » Wed Feb 14, 2007 3:36 pm

Looks like my new rig will be put together in a few months. I settled for the new NVidia 8800 card. Reviews said it blows everything out of the water and supports DirectX10. My pal will put it together since I'm moving soon and work at the airport is getting pretty demanding now.

The NVidia XFX 8800 GTX is the hottest card out there now. I decided on a changeover since ATI keeps lagging behind on their Shaders. So far the price of the rig is hovering over TT$15,000! If it gets any higher I'm gonna be broke and the wiff is gonna kick me butt out and I'll have to move into Falcon's house. I wonder if he got a doghouse with cable?

Don't you need some serious wattage for the 8800 card?!

(Ha ha - listen to me!!! Yep I've been reading up how the inside of a rig works!! Shhhh, don't let on I'm a noob and I may just get away with it!! )

Yep, a recommended 600W! Blimey, my rig is only rated at 375.... PSU upgrades are quite reasonable though I suppose.

Gonna wait till my warranty is up on this machine before I start breaking it. Sods Law says that I'll do something and something else will succum to the Dark Side of the Force.

Good luck AB on your build!!

maybe having in mind that the new Altar Puter
will be put together in a few months.
Even despite the overwhelmingly sad and disturbing in it's gloomness fact that in a few months the card will be by no means obsolete and really weak ;) I'd like such a rig ;)

I'm really excited about the card though. Even if it becomes obsolete in a few seconds. The card is big in size but the case will be large enough to hold everything. It'll carry 4 gigs of RAM and a 500 Gig HD and a Dual Core 2 processor. Power Supply will be around 600W. I'll probably keep the old pc around to do my 3D models and the new one to render them. Read the reviews about the card here:
