Did WW2 pilots ever have an off day or did they just die?

Ever played our wonderful sim and not do very well, e.g. no kills, keep getting shot up/killed - ever have a consistent 'off' IL2 stretch?....
I am at the moment, last week I was bringing down an averge number of kites in HL, but this week I'm a target drone!!! As a game this is not a big deal, but I've had this actually flying (many a kangaroo landing was had, much to the annoyance of the instructor) which explains after 36 hours in the air my accumulation of several dozen 'touch-and-go's').
But that set me thinking, pondering even....: did this ever happen in the real world??....
Apols if I'm thinking too much!!

Well in the real world nobody who was shot down and killed because they were having a off day reported it, strange
As for IL-2, I've been a drone for a good 4 years I think, and my off-day started about 1364 days ago.. thats ok, any day now I'll be fine.. its just a phase right?

Absolutely, but project yourself into that situation:
You've been woken by your batman at 4am for your Ops briefing. You've hit your head on the wall getting out of bed, fallen over your flying trousers trying to get them on and then you find out the hard way that 'Biffy' the Squadrons black labrador mascot has shat in your flying boots!....
Ops tell you that there's bad flack on your escort mission, a new invincable fighter has been see in numbers and when you do get to your kite, your tech-man says that the engines playing up a bit but it should be ok.... still feel like doing your duty? It would sort of put you off wouldn't it? The final statement as you went down in flames from the 262 that just pranged you, must be "Typical....."
Thank the Gods for my Evo joystick and cumfy chair and Mrs Badger bringing me glasses of tea every half an hour (well Galland did have his cigars dans cockpit)!!

Badger!
There was a spammer who plodded through the forums last night. He commented in an inane and wise-arse way vaguely about an earlier post. Sneaky is commenting on THAT post that someone deleted later this morning; not YOUR post.
The spammer made at least five other posts in random threads last night. I "followed" him around as he posted. I erased some cursing, changed a few words and totally deleted one post that he had just made.
When he finally left, I left. I felt that if I deleted all of them ... something like this may happen. Besides, it's important that Gen and other moderators know who the jerks are.
So sorry things kinna looked uncomfortable after that one post was erased. It had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with you.

As I pointed out in my post , some spammers are under the illusion that postings with links to sites they are promoting will improve their search engine rankings.
The major search engines don't work that way anymore (because of spam), so they're not only wasting our time , but their own.
I guess we get the last laugh.

Damn! I was just about to put on my Mafia Hit Man Suit to lean on Badger. Now I have to leave that headless horse on Falcon's bed again.

Don't worry Badger we know you're one of the good guys.
