After 5 years the pain is still there. A salute to those who died and the loved ones they left behind. I think one of our brothers, Sapper is on the frontlines in the war against terror. Give 'em hell m8 and come back soon. ^:|

I always knew that the police had a tight brotherhood, but I didn’t know that firemen also had close bonds, even before 9/11. My brother being a fireman was sent to NY in the aftermath of 9/11, after he had came back I asked him how and why a fireman from the west coast was sent the east coast, he told me it was because their sister-station was one of the ones that was devastated on that day. Well wasn’t really much they could do that wasn’t already being done, but to them it was family that had been attacked. But then we all had that feeling.

It some how seems like it's been longer than 5 years to me. Perhaps because the possibility of terrorism in my country became very real to me on April 19th, 1995. That day the world changed for me, for all of my fellow Oklahomans as well.

While I will not compare our loss to 9/11, it was the first day that I got a good look at my fellow americans, and saw what it really meant to be one. During that period of time, we sent many people to help out in the rescue and recovery, just as NY did when we had ours. It's not everyday that you can have something in common with a city like New York, even if you wish, for both cities, that you didn't have that commonality at all.

To all those lost to terrorism at any time in history, all over the world.

Rest well my brothers and sisters.

Why does my saluting guy have a smile on his face?

That's odd... I thought we only had one of those...

OK... consider this as a replacement...
