CHINO AIRSHOW PHOTOS, JULY 2006

Post by :FI:COM » Mon Jul 10, 2006 6:52 pm

Well, I missed the real show- May 28th, but got to enjoy some serious Kaliforia Kowpaddy-El-Ranchero heat. (95*) There was a conference for approx. fifty Vietnam/Korea vets involved in F.A.C.- forward air controllers- getting these guys talking was like pulling teeth, albeit what was said was certainly interesting. I also had the pleasure of meeting FI Icefrog and his family (see photo) along with the last Japanese Raiden and the last flyable A6M5 with it's original Sakai engine- there are only three non-static Zeroes left in the world, I'm told. Enjoy! ~S~

Kent
It was a pleasure to meet you and your wife at Chino, it was too bad we didn’t have more time. Both you and your wife seemed to be very nice people. I’m glad the rest of your vacation went well. After you left I stayed and listen to the rest of the speakers which was very interesting. They picked five guys out of the crowd to go up in (2) LN5’s and (3)LN19’s after the speakers were done, they flew them around the airport for about 45min. though out the day the museum took four flights up with paying passengers, two went in a Avenger and two in P51. which was pretty cool to watch, I noticed when they loaded them in the planes they didn’t give them any parachutes :D i guess it adds more thrill to your ride :D

Yeah, that's what we thought at Duxford... then after they left, we realised they'd taken all the money, the jewels, the picture of the Madonna with the naked booby...

Great pics of Chino, thanks for sharing! ^:)

PS: Did you ever sneak anything plane-related into one of your paintings? Don't say Shawna is plane-related ;)

I didn't get the nomenclature for that freak of a plane, though I believe it was post-WW2 ('48-'49) and I believe it's SWISS....figures some kookie cali-pilot had to dress it up to impress the cattle..maybe a crop duster for the Pyrennes/MontBlanc?
