Bought a P4 2.4ghz CPU.
Bought a GForce 7800AGP vid card.
Both locally at CompUSA.
Installed the CPU.
PC woudn't boot, and monitor said "NO SIGNAL".
Tried different monitor. Same thing. Reconnected original monitor.
Tried old 1.8ghz P4. PC works, though not upgraded.
Assholes better at least give me an even exchange!
Can't install vid card until I upgrade to bigger PS. Looking at Enermax 550 watt unit, because card specs require a MINIMUM 400watt supply with Overload Protection of 20amps on the +12volt circuit. No prob. I'll get one locally. I'm in Albuquerque, right?
Wrong. About getting it locally. Assholes at BestBuy and CompUSA try to sell me their stock instead of being honest. Their best Antec units only provide for 18amps on the same circuit. ("I've been using this model for years with that same video card." Right. )
Need to get it on the net. Better price anyway.
THEN I'll DL all the new shyte I've missed for the last month and 1/2.
BTW, found a Viewsonic VX922 19" LCD unit all over the webb and for as low as $252.00. Touted as the fastest LCD display out there.
Can anyone tell me if it's actually a good one to replace my current CRT?

Try this link. It was the first site I found that seems professionally reviewed.

Volume 2...
...
Received and installed new PSU. PC/Windows boots.
Installed GForce 7800 vid card. GODDAMN, look at the water NOW! (mental note: Must get "Oblivion!)
Installed new 2.4 CPU. Feckin' thing still says "No Signal". Ok, problem ID'd.
Detailed search of Intel Support site tells me I need to upgrade my MB to accept the 90nm technology CPU sitting useless in the box near my desk.
( "Caution: Your stupidity may have destroyed the only chance you ever had of using the CPU again." )
Hope the thing works when I get the new MB.
Meanwhile, back at the rancho...
Got on Friday night and enjoyed rushing down the deck and diving into the water.
And the chain reaction of all exploding on the deck was hilarious!!!!
