:C[[ So got AEP in trhe post today, done the merged install while soldering up some DMX leads ( for the lighting rig across the road).

Funny thing the Rts.dll's all installed correctly this time round. been downloading patches
Install FB
Install AEP
Install PF
Install patch pf_patch303m.exe (100MB)
Install patch pf_patch401m.exe (141MB)
Install patch pf_v402m.exe (31MB)
Install patch pf_patch403m.exe (155MB)
Install patch pf_patch404m.exe (21.8MB)
So now the nightmare can begin, just hope the CD installs were a good omen.

Got TS 2 on the drive as well, Just need to move over to the new base now, and hope the patches are good[-o<

Have fun ...

What Vid card you got Sneaky.

I can run perfect on my 9800pro but need to do some work on my conf.ini file.

Heres my settings:

[Render_OpenGL]
TexQual=3
TexMipFilter=3
TexCompress=2
TexFlags.UseDither=0
TexFlags.UseAlpha=0
TexFlags.UseIndex=0
TexFlags.PolygonStipple=0
TexFlags.UseClampedSprites=0
TexFlags.DrawLandByTriangles=1
TexFlags.UseVertexArrays=1
TexFlags.DisableAPIExtensions=0
TexFlags.ARBMultitextureExt=1
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineExt=1
TexFlags.SecondaryColorExt=1
TexFlags.VertexArrayExt=1
TexFlags.ClipHintExt=0
TexFlags.UsePaletteExt=0
TexFlags.TexAnisotropicExt=1
TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=1
TexFlags.TexEnvCombine4NV=0
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineDot3=1
TexFlags.DepthClampNV=0
TexFlags.SeparateSpecular=0
TexFlags.TextureShaderNV=0

HardwareShaders=0 ; change to 1 for better water but hit on frame rate.

Shadows=0 ; 1 or 2 drops frames
Specular=2
SpecularLight=2
DiffuseLight=2
DynamicalLights=1
MeshDetail=2
VisibilityDistance=3

Sky=1 ; cloud=0 is best for frames =2 loses a lot of fps
Forest=0 ; best at 0 for fps
Water=0 ; best at 0 for fps
Effects=0 ; best at 0 for fps
LandShading=2
LandDetails=2

LandGeom=2
TexLarge=1
TexLandQual=3
TexLandLarge=1

VideoSetupId=17
ForceShaders1x=0
PolygonOffsetFactor=-0.0625
PolygonOffsetUnits=-1.0

Avg fps with these settings 28 on black death
timed from 0.05 to 2.30

Alterd resolution to 800x600 for online but
only gained 1 fps.

I also changed the conf.ini to read only so il2
could not alter settings.

OpenGL

1024X768 32bit
Use stencil buffer ticked

Settings: Custom
Texture mipmap filter: anisotropic
Texture compresion: S3TC

Use dither: unchecked
Use vertex arrays: checked
Polygon Stipple: unchecked

Extensions:-

Disable all: unchecked
Multitexture: checked
Combine: checked
Secondary colour: checked
Veetex array extension: checked
Clip hint: unchecked
Use palette: unchecked
Texture anistropic extension: checked
Texture compressionARB extension: checked

On Catalyst control center

AA=6X
AF=let aplication decide
Catalyst AI=Advanced
Mipmap detail=Quality
Wait for Vert Refresh=Always off
SMartshader=None
Adaptive AA =Off

This seems to work best for me.
I also was getting the black video its something to
do with the conf setup.(Can't remember what through.)

Hope this helps

THANKS FOR THE CONF.INI TIPS

Might be a clue there in the "Use palette " setting

just using a bog standaed ATI 9200
may try different drivers ,Ive got 3rd party set by Omega
Current CONF.INI:-
VideoSetupId=10
Water=1
Effects=1
ForceShaders1x=0

PolygonOffsetFactor=-0.0625
PolygonOffsetUnits=-1.0

my old conf.bak.txt:-

VideoSetupId=9
Water=1
Effects=1
ForceShaders1x=0
yours also has a lot of settings not in either of above, have to have a trawl through, see what can work.

That's a lot of tweaking mate! Good show :FI:Baderslegs getting the 9800 working with Perfect mate. I could get my old 9700 working under Perfect, but that was a while back before the new clouds and stuff.

Wondering why you use 6xAA and not something less so you can enjoy increasing some of the other settings. Even with 4xAA things tend to be decent, but then again ATI usuallyhas less of an impact on fps when increasing AA than my current nVIDIA 6800 card.

TS!

think I'll settle for excellent for the time being

Went through all the install stuff last week............. I still need MORE beer.

Got all installed and patched up (or so I thought) and I'd I'd left out the damned AEP. :oops:

Uninstalled all that mess and then screwed up the patch odor. :? THAT STUNK.

3 tries later it lit and RAN!!!

Everything set on PERFECT, good frame rates, still needs a bit of tweaking yet but I've been having too much fun bouncing Bredamellows off of stuff. The 205 III has some decent teeth it seems.

This ATI X700x256 seems like a damn nice card.

Can't get most of my HOTAS controls to work on this rig like they did on my other one. Flaps and brakes on the keyboard aren't as fun. :roll:

Got any backups?

If your old PF folders are still intact...........
USERS folder
"Doe" folder
settings.ini
should have all the old assignments/

I'm gonna try a copy paste from my standalone install's conf files,
see if I get Perfect then. :nferret:

No backups available as my comp is still in pieces..

We got the missus a new comp to replace her ailing POS and I'm working from it at the moment. I'll probly throw rocks at mine when and if it ever gets running again. :lol:

My new and supposedly slightly used CPU got here FINALLY. So I can start the rebuild, update/bios flash BS associated with all that noise.

Here are the spec's on the new beast I found for her.
1. Aspire X-Infinity Mid-Tower ATX Case
2. CoolerMaster 380-Watt Power Supply Unit
3. Abit IC7-G Max II Advantage Motherboard (800MHz-FSB, 4GB Single (or) Dual Channel DDR-400 Max, AGP 8X-pro, SATA-150 RAID, Ultra ATA RAID, Gigabit LAN, Integrated Realtek 24-bit 6-channel surround sound.)
4. Intel Pentium 4 2.8-GHz CPU (Socket-478)
5. Zalman (All Copper) CPU Heatsink & Fan
6. 1.536 Gigabytes Corsair Twin-X XMS Dual DDR-400 SDRAM (2x256MB and 2x512MB matching dimms)
7. ATi Radeon X700Pro 256-MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card
8. Maxtor 160-Gigabyte Serial ATA-150 (1-MB Cache) Hard Drive
9. Memorex Combo Drive (DVD-ROM & CD-R/RW Drive)
10. Floppy Disk Drive (Black 1.44MB 3.5inch)
Paid $475USD for it delivered to the house. The kid that built it is a sharp youngster and offered Tech support for life after I gave him a couple of pints. :badgrin:

I added a 250G Western Dig ATA HD for her to store her "stuff" on. Got the games (hers, mine, and ours) on thier own 30G partition on the SATA HD.

So far it's a really smooth running rig. It is a bit noisy because of all the fans needed to keep that Prescott chip cool.

NICE- and oh yes PF standalone conf fixed merged bugs-
