My First Butt Kickin

Well, I spent a few hours getting my butt kicked 8-[ by about 20 guys :beg: in between smashing my plane into the ground myself a few times just so I knew how it felt to put someone into the dirt....

Had a great time of it \:D/, using 4.0m mostly, but I really don't like that torque, had to put in so much rudder trim I nearly go into a spin hands off. Or so it seems.

I noticed that some games indicate a password isn't needed, but in some cases one was despite that being stated. It would also be more convenient if 4.0 or 3.04 was indicated for each game. That's about all the constructive comments I have. Otherwise, I could get addicted to this stuff real easy. Was going to do some other stuff around the house today.......didn't happen.

Had some trouble finding the runway (on grass or sand fields) and ended up taxiing about more than I'd like to and ended up nosing over a number of times thinking I was on it or good enough surface to take off......not.

I used the refly button today more than any other control

Well, I can see I need to read up on tactics a bit more. And I need to adjust my input controls so I can make gentle changes in roll and pitch when I'm trying to line someone up in my sights. Herky Jerky describes it pretty good. I managed to take a bite out of a couple guys, but I couldn't get the crosshair on them long enough. Will work on that.

All in all a great game, =D] will become a hobby of mine I'm sure.

Right now....I need a beer break, combat takes a lot out of guy,

MV!

good to see that you got on!

A few of us flew on Genosse's (Frank) and TacS's (Sweetie Punkin) servers today

We flew some raggy dogfights but had beaucoup fun.

Good missions Punkin!

Come find us Sunday, Mike.

We'll all team up and you can hide behind one of us until you get comfortable with your new settings or whatever.

Yeah, taking off is tough and taking off in the rough is even tougher.

Until you can pull a successful TO out of your butt in the weeds stick to the runway no matter how long it takes to find it. Use the tail lock feature once you're lined up.

The TO's w/4.0 are still new to me too. I see more porpoising and nose diving than torque so far.

...

And the beer is DURING the flying ... in my case anywho.

Oh yeah, almost forgot about the tendency to spin, even when flying straight down and well above stall speed. Sometimes could not recover from a spin no matter how much opposite rudder and stick centered/forward I tried.

Definately some handling problems with 4.0, but as I understand it, it was not intended for public release. I trust the 4.0m users have provided some valuable beta testing to Olig.

I enjoyed the dog fights in narrow mountain valleys the most. Made for some interesting manuevering.

Back to sleep, nity night,

Thats the thing I hate about no cockpit DF servers... just figuring out where the runway is.... especially on that desert map :(

It always is a bit confusing at patch time what servers are running what, especially this time when a seemingly official patch became unofficially official before being down graded to officially unofficial....
