don't think so...
reciever is a dead ringer for a BAR or Browning Automatic Rife, so is the trigger group/carrying handle and stock... though there are some differences i haven't seen before in this model.
the flash hider/muzzel compensator looks different than i've seen on BAR's from other countries too. hmmmm.
i've seen plenty of FAL BARs and they look similiar, but still, the forearm and other furniture coupled with that flash hider looks odd.
???

Good eye Beo.....
It isn't an Eastern Bloc weapon.

I
did say it was a guess...
For all I know it's a Bren gun...
I'm not a firearms guy...

something about the weapon keeps nagging me... but just can't put my finger on it. yeah, its grand daddy definitely was a BAR, surely. and a lot of similiarities are there between the M1918 and 1919 BARs... still, some of the hardware is different. and especially that damned flash hider/ compensator. graaaaa!
at first i thought i might be a Colt Monitor, which was made by Colt with BAR tooling for the civilian/police/security guard market... but that darn flash hider/compensator is just not right. i remember the Monitor's compensator was very wonky.... more longish/tube-shaped. also other parts of the guns does not exactly look like a Monitor. so that isn't it, i think.
again, similiar to FN made BARs... but again the hardware seems a bit different from the ones i remember and again that wonky flash hider. ga!
i'll take a couple of guesses then. i know Australia made a BAR copy, a HB or heavy barreled version called a Canadian C1. i saw one in a musem many years ago, but can't remember every little detail a C1, perhaps?
also, FN made an improved 1918 A2 version called a 30 caliber Type D... in 30.06 and 7.92 Mauser... was in service with the Belgians for a while, also sold a few to Egypt in the 7.92mm caliber. but the semi-curved magazine doesn't look like the ones i saw a forever ago. but maybe my memory is fogged. perhaps a Type D?
its that dog gone flash hider that is really throwing me. it looks like something made by Madsen (Denmark) but then again it doesn't. and something about the forearm and stock too... where in the hell have i seen this weapon? ga!
good one, Willie!
Zeke... you're da man, catch my slack!

FFS!! NONE of the Euro lads care to weigh in on that lil dumplin'?
Beo, it is a Swedish m/37 in 6.5X55 Swedish Mauser.
Design borrowed heavily from the BAR as you noted.
Ought ot be a LOAD of fun to shoot.

Sorry, Beo, saw this post too late to add any feedback. I did see the BAR lineage immediately however. I was thinking a French variation of the weapon until Willie mentioned the caliber. I think I would have wandered North after a bit, but I wouldn't have guessed the model. Good show, Willie!
