as the stuka flight lead I was a bit pissed that we had poor fighter cover despite screaming for it and typing in the console window

we stukas were left out on a limb. we really need fighter escort as we lost one to fighter attack and the rest of use got shot at a fair bit

fighters should sweep in front/behind of the stuaks maybe 10-15 miles out keeping us sandwhiched in the middle

I know its only a game but if we are going to play with full real lets have full real fighter cover!

As a fighter cover dude, I can tell you that we did sweep in front off the stukas, and we were mixing it up with the french before the bombers even got to the target area, but those off us who have the ability to know exactly where we are on the map, and to shoot down the bad guys once we find them can't be every where at once. It may be an idea to do a few laps off the field before heading to the target area, to give us a bit more time to clear the path for ye. Any bad guy's who got through to ye wasn't due to lack of effort on our part. I think for the next session the last 4 fighters should stick like glue to the stukas, and the remainder sweep ahead then patrol the target area.

I don't mean it as it a critisim and we are grateful for the support you fighters provide but it can be very lonely flying the stuka and seeing enmey fighters zip by :-)

I agree it wasn't lack of effort we just need someone to stay close by for emergencies

Knowing where you are is one thing, finding out (on TS) where everyone else is, thats another.

Red flight did turn around to come and give you guys cover but just as we got to you we got bounced by the AIs  . We had every intention of flying close support though. :)

I agree next time the last flight of fighters should stay with the bombers and give them a nice view of our lovely thoroughbreads from their lumbering nags

In an ideal world you only need to know where your flight lead is and where you yourself are. That's two positions on the map. Their is a lot more you could go into, like staying in position, forming up, correct use of the radio and all the rest, but after years and years of trying to get this down, I have kind of given up on all that. All we can do is our best and that is governed by ones own innate ability. We have tried to run flight schools every now and then, but the guy's who should take part in them never showed up, and so you end up with a session on a sunday when everyone is trying to find their own ass, and you can't help anybody because your on a different channel or on one channel with a lot of yapping. Thing's would be so much better if people could just shut the #### up while their flying; this way, and its a noval concept I know, the only information being given is relevent to the mission.

I agree if your being told to go to a certain bearing or height level the a simple roger or stating your number should be enough.

I'm not military, but when ATC/etc. talks to more than one ac, it's kinna like this ...

Flight Leader: "Spit lead turning right to two fife zero, climb to one-two thousand."

Spitfire 2: "Spit two, two fife zero, one-two thousand."

Spitfire 3: "Spit three, two fife zero, climb one-two thousand."

Spitfire 4: "Spit four, two fife zero, one-two thousand."

This confirms that:

- each pilot got the info
- each pilot got the correct info

Simply saying, "roger" and "affirm.", don't do this. Now, every lead/flight/service/country/whatever have there own preferences, but this is a basic tenet.

I always feel like a bit of plonker when I start talking like that as non one else seems to

I also think if we are going to use comms thenwe should preface with our flight such as red 1 to red flight
and keep inter flight comms open to flight leaders unless its a real emergency

of course its all a game and part of the fun is the banter !
