19th September

Post by :FI:Conman » Thu Sep 16, 2010 7:26 pm

StG 2
Call-sign- Stallion

Today's target is Dover radar station. The following 8 aircraft are to participate in the raid:

A for Alpha
B for Bravo
C for Charlie
D for Delta
E for Echo
F for Foxtrot
G for Goering
H for Hotel

Our aircraft will be escorted by four fighters from JG-5.

Navigation to target
Image

All eyes on the map, As you can see we are at Abbeville in France. As you should know its a concrete surface outside and our creates are JU87s. At 12:00 pm all 8 bombers are to start up and take off flying up the river to the channel then form up in the mouth? got that... oh yes! climb to 9000ft and maintain tight formation you have little rear protection so you need to make the most of each other!

Once formed up turn to a heading of 0 and fly to this mass of land. Here you should meet JG-5 who will be at 13000ft and will cover you for the drop. Also from this position you should be able to see the English coast. turn on a heading of and head for it. once within visual range of the radar station pre-pair for the dive!

Over the Target

This slide shows the target, taken yesterday morning by one of our storch aircraft.

Image

Right looking at the target. Your primary target is the large antennas. This should blind the Brits from the raids yet to come. First bomber however is to knock out that AA battery! it could prove very costly if not dealt with! Secondary target is the accommodation and trucks we don't want this station operating in a while!

Other Considerations

If the station is knocked out swiftly enough other possible targets are present at Dover.

Image

As you can see the port is defended those three AA guns can make short work of a stuka but as can a SC250 make short work of them. Do also be aware of the Javalin her crew could also prove fatal if you stick around above her for too long.

Navigation home
Image

Looking back at the Map you see that the return flight is the same as the out going. only point to note is the altitude once you drop you'll be on the deck, climb to about 1,500 ft and return to France.

Now take off is in 20 minutes time brief your gunners and check your aircraft. Good luck.

JG 5
Call-sign EAGLE

Today's task is an escort run for StG 2. four aircraft are to participate on this mission. By order of the straws its is A section of

01
02
03
04

Navigation

Image

OK take off is at 12:00 you are to fly to this landmass and climb to 13000ft, Once here circle and form up wait for the bombers. Once the bombers join the party follow them to Britain. Keep a god altitude above them and keep your eyes open for fighters!

Over the Target

Over the target you are to circle out of Dover AA range but keep one eye on the bombers at all times you are under their command unless fighters are spotted when 01 will take command of the group.

for the return flight descend to an altitude of 4000ft this still gives you a height advantage over the bombers but still keeps you agile.

Once back at the landmass split with the bombers and RTB

Good luck

Hope you like it!

If you use zuti 1.12, we could make a couple of trips across the pond and try for all the targets, just a suggestion , nice brief :)

Connor, our young mission builder parvenu!

According to the times given on the navigation map the mission will take roughly 45 mins. Is there anything else planned for this evening. I suppose I´m going to the host again so I´d like to know what else we´re going to fly this day. Any more missions ready for Sunday? :)

Moreover the mission is made for twelve pilots only. Don´t you think that there could be more slots open for more pilots willing to join? Just for my information: is it a historical mission since the information on SG4 (Schlachtgeschwader 4) I´ve gathered so far indicate that it was a FW-190 squadron from '43 to ' 45 ... :-k

Frank - I have some more Normandy 44 P47 missions available if needed - and all are now airstarts 10 minutes from France so hopefully quicker and no restarts

Great stuff Conmang!

So, what's the trick to topple a radar tower?

May add another couple of each aircraft. As for missions none yet ready and I've got two busy days so anyone else willing to put something forward?

n-kay ...

let me know how that turns out.

Stuka pilots, remember to set your bomb release altitude if you don't want your load to drop automatically at 'bout 1500'.

Connor,
Once again, terrific job on the mission, mate. Thanks for all the time & effort you spent. Too bad about those "stealth" towers, but at least your sacrificial effort took out the AA gun & likely allowed 1 or 2 more of us to make it home safely. Cheers!
