me -109 gunsight

Post by fianna » Sun Jan 21, 2007 12:46 am

while flying an ME - 109 in full cockpit mode, i noticed that i could only see about 1/4 of the luminous part of the gunsight.

levelling the aircraft out did not make any difference .

can anyone suggest a reason /fix for this?

'tis a magic button to move the seat over a bit. ;)

I've never figured out the reason for having to do it that way. It was that way in the old IL-2 Sturmovic game as well. Maybe you get a better view with the sight out of the way a bit. I've never bothered trying to fly that way because I want that sight ready to go when I need it.

According to the 'Aircraft Guide' file that included with 1946, the gun sight on German fighters was not mounted in the center of the cockpit, therefore, the Shift F1 slides you over in the seat a little to compensate.

Yeah, in real-life they aparently used just one eye to look trough the sight and one eye to look past it on the left,
but since we only have the one eye in game(one monitor no-3d) we have to move the pilot to the right.

I read somewhere that another reason for shifting the sight to the middle is to assist players to center the sight so they know the nose is pointing in the right direction when landing. Didn't help me much though.
