Crashing to desktop with 4.05

Post by Salahdin » Thu Jul 06, 2006 9:07 pm

S! Lads,
I've been downloading the latest patches and everything went fine. However, upon installation of the pe2 addon, things started to go bad. I am able to fly for about 5 minutes before there is a crash to the desktop and an error saying something along the lines of "unable to access memory".
I thought this could be a problem with the .exe files so I replaced them with the ones from 4.04 but this hasn't helped. Anyone know what could be wrong?

Thanks

Sal

I blue screened twice tonight whilst on an online DF map. I have just rebuilt the PC so am not sure whether it is FB or PC related. I did catch a mere glimpse of the screen before it rebooted which suggestest it may be audi card related... investigations continue.

That said, it is damn hot tonight... maybe just a case of meltdown? :P

Have you replaced both the executables (il2.exe and il2fb.exe) with the 4.04m ones?. It certainly sounds like you have the exe problem. If you're not sure that you have the right exe's I could e-mail you mine at lunchtime

4.04m exe files ( as recommended in all the boonty related posts) should be fine.

Thanks for the responses guys. I messed around a bit more with these .exe files and it looks promising. Lastnight, I flew two 15 minute missions with no problem. So I will let you know if it crashes again.
