I thought the virus was sick until I saw the strung up frog pic. Where ever did you find such a hideous thing.
Back from taking my glider for a 3 hour flight up around Gettysburg, PA. Beautiful day, good mix of cumulus clouds with bases around 5,000 feet today (not that high really, would prefer at least 6 thousand).
Though some about my butt kickin experience yesterday on HL. The thought of really flying like that in a real sky would be a bit unerving to say the least.
I may have a look into HL in a bit, need a short beer break first and recuperation from the drive back home.
Any of glider pilots in this mob (I didn't say clan).
Mike

I used to Hang Glide...
...back in the "Good ol' Days".
Every time it gets cold the numerous stainless steel screws holding my right leg together remind of my last flight.

Hang Glider Driver Amigo
Right on Bro, that's how I started this soaring thing. Got my hang I at Kitty Hawk Kites on the outer banks in NC. Worked up to hang III and close to IV in the mountains of Virginia and Pennsylvania when I "bailed out" of HG in 97. Flew a PacAir Pulse 10 meter was thinking about getting a Wills Wing UltraSport, but hung up my "wings" instead. Hey check out a local sailplane club if you still have the urge. I did, no regrets. Try http://www.ssa.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for info if you like.
Tell me some about your experinece in HG. Where? Sorry about your leg. I had one near miss myself, luck and my trainingl saved my butt..... Got caught in some moutain wave. Tried to land in extreme turbulence..rotor..you know what I'm talkin about.. Nearly did a lawn dart landing in some trees from about 150 feet up when I stalled and went into a spiral dive...verticle, nice view of the tree tops...., but pulled out just in time to land in the LZ, near Woodstock, VA.
I hope you are healing well my friend,
Kawabunga,
MikeVictor

That was Twenty years ago...
when i was young, dumb, and full of Whiskey. Most of the time.
I have no clue how I made it through A&P School!
I'd been doing it for about a year, with the help of one of my classsmates who owned an old "Delta-Wing" for training, and a couple other, newer models with stays in the wings.
He found me a similar decent one for about $700.00 used and I used some of my Student Loan money to get it.
We used to make regular 20-mile flights from a Mountain outside Helena, MT called The HogBack to a field on my fathers ranch outside town.
That day I made two major mistakes:
1. I flew alone.
2. I changed my choice of LZ's during the flight.
3. I was drunk.
The nice-looking, green (Early June), fuzzy, comfortable-looking, beautiful site I eventually balled up in was so full of boulders hidden in the grass I not only destroyed my beautiful new HG, but shattered my right ankle.
If the field wasn't next to the Interstate, I would have had a hell of a time getting to the hospital.
A few months and two blood clots later
I gave up trying to get back in the saddle and used this story to great effect with the ladies.
(Who'd a thunk telling the truth would get me to "home", huh?
