I test drove the V8 "90" last Friday.
I was at the dealership gettin my pet serviced and was admiring the new stuff, when the salesman started yakking at me. One thing led to another and he tossed me the keys and said "take it for a spin."
I got situated in it, and eased out into traffic. Found a spot to let her trot and pulled the trigger on that punk. Pretty damned impressive. Typical Volvo shifting. STRONG off the line, but the "kickdown" to a lower gear to get the "go" is lacking from higher speeds.
The thing rides better than my XC, don't feel near as much road surface on the butt and it is quieter inside from the road noise standpoint.
I grew up with big inch "Detroit iron". The Volvo is quick, but NOTHING compares to big inch, gas guzzling, pavement peeling, tire smoking. old iron for that "set you back in the seat" feeling when you twist the wick.
I did have a bad case of sticker shock too. $49K and change USD sticker price.......
IF I win a lotto, I'll buy one.

Heh...
I concur!
Nice motor, but a bit too big and ungainly for my style. The turning circle on my old 940 is smaller than on the XC90.....
Still, it is a bit more plush
Now, imagine that nice little V8 in a brand new, slick S80..... one day your dream will come true
Pound for pound there are better cars out there - but not much better. It's swings and roundabouts these days when it comes to performance, plastic gimmicks and paint. It's all about priorities and what you want - least that's what I've been learning
Still, it's the most fuel-efficient V8 out there
I lioke them new 'Stangs... I hear Shelby is helping with the GT500 version...

Saab make niiice cars!
It's a shame GM don't know when to put money into a company, unlike Ford....
If Saab's Swedish operations continue past 2011 I'd be quite surprised.
As it stands the business is slowly being exported and eroded...
If you are looking for a new convertible/coupe, Gurb, Volvo has one coming out later this year

A guy near here had 2 of them for sale, he thought they were worth $15K USD each!! FFS. THey were complete, sans radios and I think one had bigger motor than the other. Cool lookin machines.

Nice lookin' machine...
I haven't seen one of those for sale over here for ages... I'd almost buy one... I think they go for around 3-4,000 US$ or thereabouts... but I could be wrong.
There are loads of Willys Jeeps over here from the 50s for that kind of money too....
And the Swedes love the 50s American cars....
