Monitor, Resoloution, Refresh ??

Post by :FI:Sacktime » Tue Apr 01, 2008 3:16 pm

Hello M8s. I have a annoying problem. My Desktop resoloution is set to 1152x864. I like to play IL2 at 1024x768. When I fire up the game I get a 1024x768 window ontop of my Desktop, as if I was trying to play IL2 in a Window. I can easly correct this by going into the hardware setup in game and choose another resoloution, then when It asks if everything is ok I just select NO and the game pops back to 1024x768 but this time filling the whole screen, hope I didn't confuse anyone with this explanation.

I play in OpenGL

My specs
Viewsonic 21" Monitor (CRT)
ATI X1300pro 256DDR2 (the choke point in game performance for me)
AMD 64 X2 4000 `2.2Gh
2Gig Dual Channel Ram
Windows Home XP SP2

try these settings in il2 "conf.ini"
[window]
width=1024
height=768
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=1
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=1
Use3Renders=0
also worth saving a Catalyst profile for your ATI card specific to your optimum settings for Il2
make sure "v-sync" is OFF

Thanks Sneaky but it didn't work :cry: I still get the game opening in a window. I've had a looked on UbiSoft site for some help, I guess I'll go back there and post something. Or I can just live with it.

Thanks for the help again.

Hi Sacktime,

Can you copy and paste your conf.ini up here for us to dissect?

Fullscreen=1 and ChangeScreenRes=1 should have fixed your problem but maybe something else is playing up.

Can you also tell us about your video card model and driver version?

Here is the whole thing. Driving me nuts. Like I mentioned I can get around it but it is annoying. I also noticed that when I exit the game my monitor refresh rate drops from 75 to 60, can't figure this one out either. I'm running off of two monitors and have tried shutting the second monitor off but still this annoyance persists.

***Fixed***** :D :D

I unchecked the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" option in the display properties and it works, it also does not adjust my desktop refresh rate once I exit the game.

For my ATI Radeon X1300 (CAT 7.11) it was a Refresh issue. :?

Thanks for all your help guys!!
