Upgrade to Asus M5A97pro mb + 8 Gb ddr3 1600

phenom ll x4 980 now runs @ 4009Mhz

quick fix for cooling 0 2 fans strapped together on cpu heatsink using cable ties and rubber shock mounts on opposite diagonals.
Keeps temp 60-61c under load

still running 8800 till 460 back from MSI (probably was nothing wrong with it anyway , crashes appear to be from a North Bridge issue on old mb.)
That said seeing as big an improvement as there was from the 460 on old board. I guess its still largely about the memory just as it was in the early days of Il2

Crickey Sneaky, I bet thing sounds like an F15 when the fans crank up. Don't let the cat get too close or it will be gone. After Kev's advice I'm converted to water cooling for cpu's now. the H60 kit I got wasn't much dosh and keeps a really tight lid on temps. Its quiet too.
