Friday Night "Coop" Flights - Weekly BOS Event

Post by :FI:Blue2 » Thu Sep 17, 2015 1:46 am

Guys,
This event is a weekly thing on Fridays, and while called "Bomber" flights it includes all types on each side. Occurs in the evening for Europe; afternoon for Americas. I flew last week for my first time and had a lot of fun. (See thread in the Squadron forum section for AAR and an idea of what to expect.) I plan to join up again this week. Spreading the word here in case any others might be interested. Good chance to brush off your skills here before autumn and summer maps come out in October, along with the P-40.

This is the BOS Forums thread where most people sign up, since most are already forum members there. Look for posts by [DBS]Tx_Tip on the latest pages in the thread.

The link to the organizing squad is here. You can also sign up here but have to become a member to do so. Either way, best to go here first, for most current view of what planes might still be open for the coming week's mission. (You'll have to page down as necessary to find the signup page for the latest week's mission.)

It's simple.
1. Check on what slots are open
2. Put in your request
3. Check back to see that you got it
4. Organizer [DBS]Tx_Tip will send you the mission briefing for your side
5. Show up @ 1900 UTC & have some fun

^:)

It's been widely reported that a well known and respected ace has been conspicuously absent in the online skies of southwestern Russia in recent weeks - much to the relief of countless would-be Eric Hartmanns, no doubt! The mystery: was he really downed? Or was he only secretly recalled to the Kremlin by Comrade Stalin, to receive yet another medal, no doubt? Most suspect the latter, and that our glorious hero is serving the Motherland by way of a lengthy propoganda tour of the relocated factories in the Urals, far to the east.

Having been away myself on a much-needed leave / spying adventure, to the luxurious paradise of Hawaii (a territory in the central Pacific ocean, conveniently appropriated by our lazy capitalist allies, the Americans), I too have seen my flying skills deteriorate. The obligatory post-mission debriefings, written summary, organization of photographic intelligence gathered on the mission, and dirty laundry, have played havoc against my burning desire to take to the skies again. However, I have gained the commisar's approval to rejoin the squadron for tomorrow's FNBF mission!

As for the mystery of :FI:Rambo, well, I wish he were back as I notice there are 2 LaGG's available for tomorrow's mission. Will he surprise all and return in time? Who knows. My own theory? After his numerous, near consecutive tours of duty, my suspicion (and hope) is that he was actually "targeted" and kidnapped by one of the beautiful young women from the group of partisans that operate near our airfield... for some lengthy 'interrogation.' Much better than a political boondoggle and another lousy medal. Hah! :D

Whether or not the mystery of our absent hero is solved tomorrow, perhaps another of our brave Irish recruits will dare to claim his place in a LaGG cockpit and escort my IL-5 brothers and me. I've heard of no others traveling east yet, but one can hope!

Sorry, Larry!

I wasn't able to get to this event. :?

How was the mission? And did Aaron show up? Do the mission builder still use the winter map or have they switched to the summer/autumn ones? :)

I need to get there myself, I guess ...

Chaps, I checked the stats for last Fridays FNBF (23/3/18) and it appears we hit bugger all, not complaining as it was good to get some decent online time, flying formation in bombers is taxing, the two in front were pretty good at keeping formation while I wandered about the sky a lot, my comms were a bit iffy, too much engine noise and struggled to hear what was being said, some tinkering to be done on that, I won't be around for next Fridays FNBF, working I'm afraid.

I'll not be around for tonights FNBF (30 03 18), or any coops on Sunday, working this weekend, still having a look at other folks coops to see if we could have any kind of online campaign going. I see that the PWCG program has the ability of setting something up coops wise, though not used it at all, still not got the new planeset in it, surely it's not much more programming for the Devs to create an online DCG (probably showing my programming ignorance here).
Next week should see more on comms as I have a break coming up.

Still a few slots left for this coming Friday's mission, if any of you are interested. I plan to fly & will reserve spots if I see any replies here.

Gents,
FNBF is back again, starting next Friday, 5/3. Here is the post announcing it:

https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/23 ... ent=762127

I will try to make it, though that may be tough given how work is going right now.

If any of you are interested, post here. Or if you like, just go post to sign up on your choice of plane and ask for 1 spot for me, but ask Tip to put me down as "Reserve" for now.

Hiya, Larry!

After checking my time schedule I'm sorry to say that I won't attend to the FNBN session this Friday.
