Working i'm afraid, though if i was'nt i would certainly be up for it. Been flying il2 more often, i guess its the wealth of scenarios that keep drawing me back. RoF has jaded for me, not enough variety online at the moment, sad to say.

I'd be up for it, but would mean a complete reinstall of Il2 as I only have a modded version now, and I am not sure I can be fussed.

I have been enjoying Il2 offline though - flown a dozen missions in a F4F campaign from Henderson on the slot map. Fighter sweeps, scambles, bomber escort and fighter bomber missions. Much better variety then RoF!

Folks!

Talking about the possible version we could fly IL-2 with I'm easy. Whether it'll be 4.11.1 or HSFX 5.01 that depends on the majority of the pilots showing up tomorrow. :)

I started making missions again in il2, though only the stock 4.11.1 as the hsfx install wont run, mind you UPS 3.0 seems fine.

I had a look last night and it seems I have an HSFX install and 4.11.1.

I get the stock version by disabling all mods in mod enabler thingy but when I do I have to have the DVD in or it won't run. Didn't there used to be a no DVD hack ? if so could somebody point me in the direction of it as I lost the will to live looking last night.

On one hand when you have hit the buffers in RoF due to lack of veriety and CoD is still, well, shall we say 'unfinished' there isn't really much in the way of alternatives, if any. On the other hand the same old debates on versions to use, mod pack pros and cons and the fact it is an old game with last generation graphics and FM's makes me wonder if I can be bothered.

I used to love the D9 but last night it was like flying an F16 on steroids rather than a late war prop fighter, that followed by lagging, glitches and a game freeze up which could only be cured by switching the PC off left me pretty much cold.

Richard, the unfortunate thing is that not enough folk know their way about the mission editor in RoF, if they did there would be more variety for us. Not blaming anyone here, if you've been in the editor you'll know its not a simple thing to knock out a mission. Just now I'm fed up with the thing, and the pisser is that 777 are not changing it.
So that leaves most folk with limited options for the type of game play, at the moment its 'Syndicate' or our own server with not much choice in between. The Syn dogfight server leaves me cold now, I cant be arsed with the way its set up (oh, and i hate this stats thing with a passion, cant remember when i had fun last, too busy worrying about stats). From now on if a game has stats or any ranking up to do I'm not interested.
Having said that, what RoF needs is a decent online war, forget the stats side of it, base it on team objectives and ditch the part that has players flying to preserve their stats.

So now at the moment its either making missions in Iron Front or il2. Reading about VF-17 at the moment, think I'll rattle out a half dozen or so coop missions about them (nearly historical), say 1943 - '44 period, all based around Bougainville.

Then theres DCSs A-10C to make missions for and fly, not everyones cup of tea I know, but theres a lot of satisfaction being able to fly and use the weapons successfully, even offline.

Vin

P.S If anyones interested in making coops for RoF I can send you some of the stuff I've made, may give you some idea.

Well know, I go away for a bit and the world turns upside down :) . I was starting to feel the same way Vin, @ the moment I'm flying RoF just to kill the fuckers; because their pricks. I sent a number of PMs to Jedders regarding their server the other week and the reply I got back was "we know and we will look into it". I'm not willing to throw this one away just yet though; @ the moment our team work against them odds outweighs the shitty missions and piss poor admin on their server. Saying all that, Il-2 has been gnawing away @ me and now that my shitty school term is finished I can get this up and running but I'll need you help with this Vin. Now for Lock-on;Black Shark;A-10 @ the moment I'm re-installing Flamming Cliffs and then Black Shark is next, again I'll need to be guided through this as well

My post certainly wasn't any sort of criticism aimed at you or any other mission builder Vin. I know dick all squared about mission building but from what you have said in the past RoF in particular is a nightmare to build missions in. The majority of my time in RoF is on the Syndicate server and it is very much rinse and repeat, also, as you and Greg mention the problems with continually watching your stats back and the perenial bias in numbers in favour of Blues could wear down a saint . Personally I don't believe for a second anything will be done about it as too many people who go there only want to jerk off their egos while pretending they are MvR. God help us when they are all hooning about sporting 20mm cannon.

IL2 has amazing scope and looking at CoD It doesn't look like it will be repeated for a long time if ever. Its just a bit of a culture shock stepping back.

I really think, that the new patch for Rof and the weapons mod is dramatically going to change the game, never mind the fact that the servers will probably ban most of the new weapon's , as i understand it at the moment, they only have a mods on/off option, and eventually the cry and the clamour from the blues will be to allow the servers to nerf them individually.the biggest whinge at the moment is the little update video, that Jason submitted,as it show the new Rate of fire changes due to the entente synchronised weapon usage as oppose to the central interrupter gear, basically the Vickers rof can be upped to about 800 from 500 rounds per minute due to a muzzel booster as opposed to the central 450 rpm as the interrupter gear actually lowered the rof of the maxim from 500rpm. =D] =D] =D] =D]

With the new hsfx 6.0 out, any missions I make will be with this version, simply because there are more maps to choose from, unless of course the new UPS is superior. I dont want to start this debate all over again regarding mods, from my point of view which ever is the better mod package will be the one I'm going with for any missions I build. Though I do believe you can have UPS and hsfx installed and select through jsgme.
