Can boot defrag harm a computer?

I'm thinking about using the boot defrag function in my IOBIT Smart Defrag program, but I notice the recommended setting is not to run it? Is there potential for damage? My boot time is rather long (lots of startup programs) and I thought it might help with this.
What do the gurus here think?

Better to use the startup manager in ASC to just load essentials at boot. W7 boot sector is a bit different from XP. It's probably best not to mess with it.

bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /rebuildbcd

I'm running Smart Defrag 2, and have had no problems with the Boot Defrag function...yet.
Been boot defragging every day since early last month.
Just to play it safe, I burned an image of my HD after all progs were installed so I can streamline if anything goes wrong.
And WHAT could possibly go wrong?

you should be fine. All the defrag is doing is moving file around so they are continuous on disk (well it does other things as well).
If you have slow boot times try running msconfig form start->run ( its a Microsoft program that ships with windows)
you can turn of loads of unused services and stop unwanted programs starting at boot time such the itunes, pdf readers, flash etc.
Use with caution. you can stop your pc booting!
