Well...

Post by Crazy » Thu Nov 27, 2003 9:42 am

here's my method of thinking. We get together and practice with externals off, with one plane, with teamspeak active. i've found this to be a very effective training method. perhaps tactics could be incorperated into it, also...

Falcon, very good point on when to use o'clock positions vs cardinal directions. It has happened to me more than once when someone said bandits x'oclock and they are not there because of our difference in orientation.

Crazy I think same plane vs was inded good practice and externals off helped a lot in exercising our situational awareness.

I concur, proper phraseology (FAA talk), you probably need the 'over' as there's no 'kick back' on TS when you unkey your MIC:

'Helo, I concur, Igor, Over',

Hey guys for this coming Wednesday's training I was thinking we run another P51 vs. The World but include all of the tough planes in FB and leave the server open for challengers. Maybe next week we can start practicing on a new plane perhaps the P47 or FW?

I was thinking of the following line up:

P51 vs FW190A9
P51 vs P47D27
P51 vs Yak3
P51 vs KI84
P51 vs La7
P51 vs 109K4
P51 vs Me262

The point is to practice against the most challenging opponents in the game. I'll leave the server open and hopefully most of us can fly on the P51 side most of the night and get enough challengers to fly the other side. If sides are lopsided ofcourse we should balance it out.

As part of this I want to continue practicing fighting as a team, covering each other, boxing the enemy in, avoiding raming into each other :D, etc.

See ya all on Wednesday :).

Ps. Please let me know if you have any ideas for training nights or if you have some maps you want me to host for training you can send them to me via email.

Even Though...

 Rab flew into my lead, causing me to down him resulting in a "friendly" kill, and taking me from a +40 to a -260, I still had a great time Wed.

Snoop I like the ideas you have re aircraft lineup and opening the server for challenges. I'm currently working on COOP maps that incorporate all elements - DF and G/A.
Current lineups are as follows:
Map 1 _ AXIS: Stukas, 109's, FW190's; ALLIES: IL2's, LA5's, P-51's
Map 2 _ AXIS: Stukas, KI-84's, Zeros; ALLIES: IL2's, MiG3's, LaGG's

When I've finished 4 maps I'll send them to you via inclusion on the :FI: CD.

How about learning to fly with early war planes. That way once we have the basic's then you can apply them anywhere.

And if we dogfight another squad we can ask for a early war settings, therefore we have an advantage :)

I thought I posted this already, but I can't find the post. I'm thinking of making a similar set of missions for early and mid war planes :D. I started with late war planes as I've found them a bit harder to master because everything is happening that much faster.
