Good afternoon and salute!

I am writing this to you as the Operations Office representative of the IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 squadron, the American Volunteer Group or the =AVG=.

We would like to once again invite your squadron to a multiple squadron based “mini-campaign” for a week long, 24/7 war starting Saturday, January 16th 2009.
Since this is a 24/7 campaign there will be something for everybody no matter the time of day/night or week. Naturally separate scores would be tracked for the campaign, missions and individual pilots. Our server’s scoring program requires each participating pilot to be registered. Registration is simple and details are below.

In the last couple Wings~of~War campaigns we went with sea battles. They proved to be difficult missions to keep going for an entire week. Much was learned from them but this time around we will go with a classic map that will ensure a challenging week to say the least.
This is heavily modified Manchuria 1945 campaign with several hundred ground targets. Also included is massive Japanese armor assault on the city of Ussurysk followed by a counter attack from the Russians. Lots of fun, dangerous stuff.

Two huge changes is that the campaign will use the Ultra Pack 2.0 and start on Saturday instead of Monday. So Friday night at midnight; 0001 hours Saturday morning, Eastern Standard Time… the battle is on.

If you have a sister squadron that would also like to be involved, please pass this along to them as well. While any interested squadron is welcome to join, this is an registration required event. All they have to do is get in touch with us.

WINGS OF WAR
Manchuria 1945

Wings~of~War is a continuous 24 hour, 7 day dynamic campaign for IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 using the Ultra Pack 2.0, on a bundled T-1 connection using FB Daemon II (FBD2) and Lowengrin's Dynamic Campaign Generator (DCG). The Wings~of~War Server will go online at 0001 hours; 12:01 a.m. Eastern on Saturday, 16 January 2010, and will go offline at 0001 hours; 12:01 p.m. Eastern the following Saturday, 23 January 2010. The server will reset every two hours to keep the Wings~of~War generated mission objectives current and up to date. A two hour session will equal one campaign day. At the end of the one week period we will tally the scores to determine the victor.

The victory conditions and objectives for each battle are determined by the mission generator. The briefing will contain reports of conflicts in various areas of the map. You will need to fly in defense of your ground units as they will be attacked by enemy on the ground and in the air. Reports of the previous day's activity will be displayed along with the mission briefing.

Rules

1.) Each participant must be registered for the event.

2.) There will be a limit of 30 pilots per side in the server at any one time.

3.) All pilots will fly with the appropriate markings.

4.) Any pilot found to be cheating (flying hacked, exiting the server to avoid a death, etc.) will be banned for the remainder of the campaign.


Scoring

Points are awarded depending upon what happens to the plane that you shoot at in each combat. Points are awarded differently based on what happens to the enemy aircraft that you targeted and whether it is destroyed in the air, force-lands, crash lands at a friendly base or another aircraft intercepts it on its return journey to base. The last plane to shoot into the enemy aircraft will be awarded the kill points. If ground units also hit the target and no air hits were achieved the ground unit is regarded as the killing unit. If the targeted plane does not disintegrate but lands successfully the score is ignored. Pressing "Re-Fly" adds the points achieved in the last sortie to the score.

Scoring is based on the default values for targets. A list of target values can be found here; Target Values. You must survive and return to base to get 100% of your score. If you are forced to land outside of the boundaries of an allied airbase you will be awarded 70% of your score. You will be awarded 50% of your score if you bail out over friendly territory. You will not be awarded any of your score if you are captured or die in combat.

Sit Out Times

The Wings~of~War Server is set up to govern itself meaning that the sit out times, aircraft ordnance load outs, etc., are handled by the Dynamic Campaign Generator and FB Daemon II. If you bail out over friendly territory you can re-fly immediately. If you bail out over enemy lines you have a 1 in 10 chance of escape.

Death/Capture Penalty: 15 minutes (approximately)

This sounds pretty cool, are any of the Irish going to participate. WTH is Ultra Pack? Is it another downloadable mod? Does it need HSFX or is it indepent of it?

Think the Ultrapak is a different MOD package to HSFX and not one we have used as a group. Having said that the 3 MODS mentioned look familiar and I think they may well be included in HSFX 4.1

I don't know if we would get on the server with HSFX with the three required MODS enabled? My hard drive has enough versions of IL2 on it as it is - not sure I want to add another to fly in this.

HSFX brings out a small pacth so that you can switch to UP from HSFX and back, as you wish.

UP did that already, so the two Modpacks are almost the same. Just as I wrote in the other thread.
No need to worry.
Just install one Modpack and you have three: UI 1.2.5, HSFX 4.1 and UP 2.0

Why? You only need HSFX. Don'T care about anything else.

lol Im with you ZekeMan. :lol:

We went with the UltraPack2.0 as a squad cause it has everything from 4.09m to HSFX4.1. That way we could run nearly everything out there within 1 copy of the game with 1 switcher. But it realy doesnt mter how you et to point B as long as you get there. :? lolo

how do you combine the ultra pack and the hsfx4.1 together?

The UltraPack 2.0 includes the HSFX 4.1 mod as well as 37 other popular mods used by the IL2 community at large.They are finally getting all the mods together in 1 version of the game.

UltraPack 2.0 is the poop. =D]
