Windows Vista?

Post by :FI:Genosse » Tue Feb 24, 2009 7:28 am

Folks!

I´d like to switch to the Vista OS and have some question about it ...
  1. What´s the difference between the Home and Ultimate version of Vista?
  2. Will my 32bit software run on the 64bit version of Vista? Is there any known incompatibility?
  3. How stable runs Vista?
  4. Have the hardware producers already updated their drivers for Vista?
  5. ...?
Ty for your attention, folks! :)

Dear Frank,

compare versions of Vista

32 bit soft on 64 bit

I don't know how stable it is....

As for the hardware - now it is common for producers to release vista drivers for their products. I doubt you should have any problems with that.

but you know what...

Wait for Windows7 (to be released this summer - said to be much improved Vista)

My 2 Eurocents.

Every fine here with Vista64 on my big machine.
The switch on my small machine failed because lack of ram and fast hardware.

Just check if there are drivers for your hardware.
99% have switched and got Vista drivers for their hardware.
But to prevent problems, check first.

And your hardware hast to be fast and you need more RAM than on XP.
2GB minimum.

But, if you don't need to switch then don't do it.
Never change a running system they say.

As you may already know Genosse, Microsoft intends to release its next OS by this Christmas. Are you able to wait until then?

While I do not intend to upgrade to Vista, and indeed Vista was a mess at launch, some SPs later I understand it to be a decent OS. In fact, the kernel is solid and will be included in the next OS, which is under beta use worldwide.

The interface and ease of use is becoming more Mac every day. Personally, I wish Gates would just buyout Apple so we could have the best of both worlds.

Besides, Willie says attractive ladies will want to hang out with you if you get Vista. :D

Alright, folks! Thank you all for your opinions, facts and clues ... I´ll keep my interest for a new MS OS a bit down until Windows 7 has been released ... there´s no need to hurry ... not even to hang out with the two young ladies! Although ... =P~ :-" ;)
