DirectX issue

Post by :FI:WillieOFS » Thu Nov 13, 2008 2:54 am

Wife loves Command and Conquer, bought her the latest RED ALERT 3 and installed it on its' own drive ( not C:). Got an error saying
This application has failed to start because d3dx9_35.dll was not found. Re-Installing the application may fix the problem
Un-Installed, Re-Installed.. No joy. Moved the installation the C: drive. No Joy. Updated the Nvidia drivers to the newest version. No Joy. PC exceeds minimum requirements for game.

Maybe try downloading latest DX9 from MS website.though they are all named 9.0c there are newer and newer versions of it coming out.

also you may want to search for the DX removal tool and reinstall the DX9 itself.

Do what they all said, as well check your C:\Windows\system32 directory (Windows XP) the file should be there, if you have Vista, disregard as Vista isn't spoken here.

I'd just reinstall DirextX

Oh, hey Willie !
It's easy:

You have to put it whereever you want to, maybe in a new temporary folder called DirectX or whatever you might like.

It just extracts all the many essential files to that folder and there you have to execute the file:
DXSETUP.exe

Only then the full automatic installation starts without asking for anything more again.
