Bring a case of "Old Speckled Hen" and you can stay a month.

30 minutes?

Think we're a couple of amateurs? However if a case would keep me there for a month, it would be a great investment.

The SimHQ.com servers, which were hosted in the storm zone, are already blown away.

Pages and servers are down.

Latest reports I'm seeing say all of that area has no electricity. Between two and four million people without power on the gulf coast of Texas.

It's a mess down there.

The rain bands are hitting my part of Texas now. The winds up here are forecast to be between 30 and 50 mph until late tonite.

25% of the oil refining capacity of the US in that area. Gas is gonna get more expensive for a while. All of the refineries are currently offline. They make their own electricity, so I expect they'll get cranking back up before anybody else does.

Only effect on us will be higher prices at the pump.

What's left of the storm is going East of us by a 100 miles or so. Got a bit of a breeze and some rain, but NOTHING like the poor schmucks on the coast got hammered with.

That is why I prefer NOT to live any closer to the Gulf coast than I do. ;) I've been stuck in two of those things up close and personal. I don't care to repeat the experience.

Seems tropical storm Alex will be no threat to BP spill containment efforts.
