news on the 1946 front??

Post by Beowolff » Wed Dec 13, 2006 10:51 pm

haven't heard too many of you guys say anything much about the new 1946 DVD yet? and since many of you are Euro...i'd figure at least some of you would have it.

i have a friend in Germany, one or two of you might recall him from his Ronin days... that has sent it to me. i installed it and it went on flawlessly, despite rumors that the SecureROM disk protection is causing some people problems. i see no big problems with it, in fact, it appears to be a definite improvement in many areas...the new joystick control is MUCH better. the new planes are cool, but, i don't think earth-shattering. i like them, but i don't think i like them enough to have bought the DVD...THANKS SPRITE! :D

to me, the whole 1946 concept is just too off-beat and un-world war II-ish for my taste...though many may like it. i guess i'm just a stickler for more authentic realworld simming. and some of these new planes are WAYY out there in the realism department.

like many, i don't like knowing that SecureROM is on my harddrive...almost like a hidden virus or trojan...but so far...no problems with it. i hope to eventually figure out a way to remove and still be able to play the game...but that's in the future.

any comments from others on this?

Not had delivery yet, but a google search on secureROM workarounds gives over 200,000 results.

Check here for info

Why the #### do they bother with stuff that downgrades our PC's to "consoles" and deactivates legit software we have installed ?

I use my rig for work and play, and burning (legit) audio and DVD's is essential to that.

I guess a separate OS boot for gaming would get around this.

The same here - stiiiiiiiilll processing.

I even called them, but the guy on the other end of the phone didn't have a clue, bless him.

I wish they'd take 'usually dispatched in 24 hours' off the product availabilty as it's starting to taunt me (in the style of 'The Holy Grail').

Yes I was - Bless them!! :D

Looks like the online status is a little bit out of sync as I skipped the 'packing' stage (unless they don't have one).
