Don't buy the x1600

Post by Navvara Ultor » Mon Nov 27, 2006 6:18 pm

Whatever you do don't buy the ati x1600!!! It's an awfull card, at least when compared to a 7600GS. Altough the x1600 will by far outperform your old 9250 you get more bang from buck from a 7600 GS.

Here's a quick list of midrange AGP video cards:

x1300<7300GT=x1600 pro<7600GS=x1650 pro<=x1650 pro platinum=x800Gto<7600GT=x850 xt<x850 xt platinum

My best advice would be to get a x850 xt for 120-140$ and flash the graphics' card bios to platinum settings.
See you on the flipside.

A little late with that advice .
Even so the X1600 has been performing great , no stutters good fps average around the 70's ( low 40's with loads of flak etc) , maximum everything in Open GL on Perfect settings.
No setup problems on install or conflicts with drivers.

Well his post makes sense given that my original suggestion was 3 months ago. I still say the x1600 is just fine for what you are doing and a great purchase.
