the hurricane was taking a detour to Missura, but still whacking Nawlins with some strong winds.

Looks like the levees might hold and keep the water back.....

I heard one of the levees broke, not a good thing for a city below sea level. Biloxi had thirty people killed during the hurricane, they weren't even near the center where Falcon lives. Hope he and his family evacuated. You don't mess around with hurricanes.

I was watching the video footage during lunch and things have taken a turn towards the worst after several levees failed. The Mayor estimates 80% of the city was flooded

I hope Falcon's home faredwell, it's going to be a long time before New Orleans repairs all this damage.

Indeed Snoop. Was watching CBS tonight and the flooding is terrible, but the looting seems to be coming under control.

Certainly hope that Stu's residence was in that 20%. Mainstreet looked aweful.

Must admit to thinking it was "under control" till I saw the footage man what a mess,whole sections of the city were gone,kinda puts our wether into some perspective.

Yes, terrible scenes, and from what Iââ‚¬â„¢ve seen on TV I would think anyone in and around that area would be hard pressed to get communication out, but how long?????

Looting is going nuts!

and not Snuffly nuts.

Every store is being ransacked. A new Walmart got it's fully stocked gun department cleaned out. To quote CNN, "... roving bands of gunmen are in the streets ..." Tens of thousands homeless, no water, food, meds. Right now I am watching a bank being robbed in Gulfport, Mississippi. Every hour there is a new tragedy to report.

My wife has gone back into the city. She is "eccential personnel" for Ochsner Hospital there. We had one of our very few fights EVER about her going back but I lost in the end. I DID manage to get a state trooper escort her from just out of town to the hospital. They should be joining up within an hour or so.

Looks like I'll be stuck here for at least a week. My youngest daughter is ill and she MUST have airconditionig.

Eileen will be checking on our cats, (another fight we had, we left them), as soon as she can pass by the house. Our home is nowhere near any of the violence.

The levees are broken in at least two places, one VERY large. It may be months before it is repaired. Other towns in the area won't be seeing a lit lightbulb in 12 weeks or more.
