Strike Fighters/Wings Over Vietnam??

Post by Beowolff » Thu Jun 09, 2005 10:58 pm

anyone here fly the games? Strike Fighters project one was the original version... older jet sim, F-100s, 104s, 105s and such...the HOTRODS. latest version, Wings Over Vietnam---same game engine and pretty much same thing except different terrain...almost everything is interchangable between the two.

TONS of NEW aircraft for the two games...third party stuff and top of the line. Vampire jets, A-10s, F-16s, SAABs, Mirages, Migs of all types, BAC Lightnings, several new WW2 fighers....202s, Spits, Hurri's, Ju88s.... and much much more. fine looking and well made planes.

though the models are top notch in most cases, the game itself is NOT IL2/FB/PF enriched in its controls... BUT, so what? where else can you hop into a F-105 THUD and go blow the crap out of a Vietcong gun emplacement? CFS2/3 maybe with tons of addons...many with questionable flight/weapons/damage models... but that's about it.

really, though not quite up to Oleg's super standards, the games play well and are a lot of fun for that QUICK, non-super realistic non-FULL HARD kind of 'get in the game and play now' type of playing. and the third party guys are doing a super job of keeping things logical and as close to the money as 'they' can get...and the game's maker is on hand to help them out all the time. cool. sorta like Oleg 'used' to be. :(

its sort of like the old JANES Fighter Anthology...more modernized and more up to date... and at bargin basement prices, there's not much to complain about. and ripping across Vietnam in WOV in a F-100 Super Sabre is tons of fun!
