To Kursk or Not to Kursk - That's the Question!

Post by TacticalS! » Tue Mar 01, 2005 2:49 am

Sorry I haven't answered your questions yet regarding Kursk Napier. I thought I would post some thoughts/help here for the benefit of all those who host and build missions.

-----

But first there have been a couple of interesting developments lately.

There's a new version of DCG (3.10) - "Fixed campaign transfer. Fixed ship speeds. Added a time-triggered transfer: Normandy '41 to Normandy '44. Added a time-triggered transfer: from Germany '44 to Berlin '45. Added a time-triggered transfer: from Hungary '44 to Balaton '45. Fixed ID of the clip-winged Spitfire VIII. Added support for 3rd party messages in English, French, German and Spanish."

That transfer from Normandy '41 to '44 sounds great! Get your update here - http://www.lowengrin.com/download.php?view.57" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .

--

Also, UberDemon has updated his great mission builder for Pacific Fighters. That's right folks, no need to settle for Snoop's rather simple missions. :D

Grab it here - http://www.uberdemon.com/downloads/uqmg4pf0000.zip" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .

--

If you like a great reference table indicating the historical plane sets for various theatres grab Ian Boys info here (you need a spreadsheet program) - http://www.yogysoft.de/VEFII/PDT.xls" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . Man I wished that I had this table a long time ago. :(

OK, Napier (and interested mates), with regards to DCG while I think it is the only way to go with dynamic campaigns, it's one drawback is not every squad engages in battle each mission. While this may be historical, it's not fun. Snoop's suggestion is a very good one - check out both sides each mission to figure out what's happening.

Also, select 100% intercept and active 1 German fighter squadron (very important) to ensure success.

Here are my suggestions for settings (I would now increase number of flights from 1 to 2 so you get more exciting dogfights). Compare/edit your files accordingly:

Well Napier (and others) I hope this information will be helpful. It has been a great campaign so far. I hope there is still interest in Kursk (or some other one) for you guys to enjoy. :)

And btw I did notice that no sooner was old TacticalS! out the door then were you guys hustling in a professional mission builder guy! [-( [-X Seriously though, welcome aboard Beowolff, I'm sure the Squad is in for some awesome missions! \:D/

Now I know the true reason while Tactical took this break he has transcended to another level and in his new non-physical form he can't hold a joystick but watches over us all. All hail TacticalGohst! :D

Hey tact get on TS and say hello m8 even if you can't fly I'd love to chat with you about somethings :D

So next Wednesday we are back to earning medals eh? :)
