Full screen

Post by :FI:Conman » Sun Apr 11, 2010 11:30 am

Another problem! OK, when I start the game instead of having the screen settings at 1024 768 32 bit I get them at 640 440 16 I change these settings and it restarts as the same thing! so I've attempted running as administrator, the setup application, running that as administrator then changing the driver but its all hopeless! anyone know what the problem is?

Sounds like you could have been in IL2 setup ?

It doesn't matter what the in-game resolution is set to. Go into your config file (in the game main directory) and change the parameters under the [window] heading for width and height to your chosen res- eg I run at 1680 by 1050 so my width is 1680 and height 1050. Change the ColourBits to 32 and save it.

if you go into IL2 setup it resets your custom res settings to default so get it set and leave it alone.

Hope it helps

Tried what you said but no result :S One thing i better add is the fact that an inch on each side goes black and is unusable in the game

Is that when you are flying or just in the menu screens ?. Non-standard res settings create that black border in the startup screen etc but not when you go into the mission. When you changed your config file ans saved did it 'save' your saved settings ?.

OK then.

Open the IL2 setup and put a res in through that. run the game into a qmb mission then shut it down. set the res through the config again and see if it takes.

Is everything else on your machine running as it did ? I had a corrupted driver install once and that had similar symptoms, have you recently updated or has auto-update ran ? try rolling back your graphics card driver and see if that helps.

Another possibility (based on the blank edges of your screen ) is the refresh rate of your screen. If not properly set it will do that.
Worth a look, anyway.

Years ago I tossed a most likely perfectly good monitor for this very reason.

Expensive lesson. :(
