Cloud framerate boost

Post by :FI:Scott » Wed Jul 22, 2009 9:58 am

I've seen this -

Over at the AAA site. Its a simple enough job to see if it helps so I thought it might be of interest here.

Just to update- I have noticed I'm getting some graphics anomalies with this. I'm seeing "edges" of the cloud matts as faint lines surrounding the clouds.

I'm using it and am getting no probs at all. Only trouble I have is the damn lagging when we use the channel map. If we are flying low it's as jumpy as hell.

I've not had any problems with this, in fact Im sure its improved the smoothness in my game. Sorry to hear you are having probs Murph, have you got any other cloud mod installed (and have you checked to see if you have that file mentioned in the thread you have to delete)

That channel map is a heavy hitter on performance. Im not sure that there is anything we can do to improve it beyond reducing static objects in the missions. If you haven't given it a go you might want to give this a go-

http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

It shuts down services and processes while gaming and defrags memory. It might help.

I'm not sure it's a problem as long as they colored inside the lines. ;)

Seriously, give GameBooster a shot. No guarantees, but it may help.
